Basically, I lost my shit when our team's support banned the champion I wanted to play, being Katarina. Someone dodges and I hover Veigar just so she won't ban Katarina. Guess what, she still does it. I lose myself after the Annie is stealing EXP and CS in game from me, in the mid lane. I tell Annie, you're not even building support, so I'm going to go bot and help Vayne. She follows me. I got back mid and bot and mid and bot. She is still on my tail. I'll copy paste the rest that happens.

Please report Annie.

Annie banned my champion, so I was naturally mad.

Our Teemo was the only one that was actually nice to me, and I lose it. Our Jax, and Vayne help the troll and I am the one getting chat-restricted and not the troll. This is a completely fair gaming community. COMPLETELY. I even sent back an E-Mail to Riot on how much bullshit this is. I know that it's only a chat restriction, but for me to get punished, when I lose it, when I get trolled is unfair. I was bluffing about leaving in-game but I am actually considering leaving.

Heh, so just because I talked back is the reason I got downvoted. Even more reason to quit. The main reason I made this is not because I was punished as I make it seem but because THE TROLL GOT AWAY FREE.

Doesn't matter who started it.

Report calling is harassment. You were extremely negative and aggressive towards your own team. All of that is enough to get you a punishment.

Bare in mind also that you don't get punished for just one game (unless it's an extreme case, which this is not). So you need to have a history of this kind of behavior before actually getting punished.

This is the first time. Besides, the Jax and Vayne lied to the enemy team about me to get me reported. I don't see how this is fair. Not one bit. Shouldn't Riot first look at the chat instead of just instantly punishing someone who has 3 reports? I don't see this as fair...

Number of reports don't matter. One report is enough to flag the game. And your chat is all that matters for your punishment.

What you typed is what got you punished. The Jax and Vayne will get theirs too, if they haven't already. Like I said before calling for others to report someone is considered harassment and leads to a ban.

As I said back there, I find this false... I got punished for talking back to troll who was LYING to the enemy team about the things I have said. They said, "Please report Syndra she said my mom should get cancer". They were report calling and I was the one punished for protecting myself.

First line of your chat logs

"Please report Annie"

That, on top of negative chat with your teammates, got you punished. What they did does NOT matter when it comes to YOUR ban.

I understand, but she got free, with no punishment. I got punished. I accept that, but I was not punished ALONG with the troll. That is my main concern this post.

They actually did tell me a few times, telling me that a person has been successfully punished by the Tribunal.

Unless that was the "final straw" report, you won't get that message...Also, it's not (always) immediately after either. I've got those the next day at login before after I went several games w/o reporting anyone.

Plus, if you've done a few reports, you don't know who it is either...

All reports do is flag a game for review (and it doesn't matter how many reports you receive in a single game).

If your behaviour wasn't punishment-worthy, you wouldn't have been punished.

I find this false... I have actually seen one of my friends who did not want to talk in game, got reported and still got punished. That was a long while ago.

I can't really speak for how the system worked a long time ago, but the system now does not punish based solely on report volume. All reports do is flag the match to be checked, and multiple reports can't make it check any harder. The system will parse chat logs for Verbal Abuse reports, and if you didn't say anything negative (or nothing at all) then you can't be punished for that.

If you have a problem with a player, just mute and report them. They will be judged for their own actions, but if you respond with negative behavior yourself you will be judged for yours. You aren't going to fix them by getting into an argument or insulting them; more likely than not, you make the situation worse and become a problem yourself.

nah, because then rito won't be able to permaban the next person the troll encounters. how can rito make money if they don't ban their playerbase and force them to repurchase the same things they already have? you're really not thinking about this clearly from rito's perspective. maybe you should be suspended from the forums for awhile while you contemplate this. amirite, blues?

If you were the only one that reported them, then that's all that is needed. Like we've said, multiple reports don't do anything.

If you got punished first, then you had enough games reported to trigger a review. The review found bannable chat in your case.

They will get their ban. It doesn't always happen at the same time.

My problem with people saying report calling is harassment is that those people need to grow up. It's not harassment. If you don't want "harassed" by someone saying they will report you for trolling, don't troll.

Well see, that's different. I put that more under the "12 year old baby" category that should be a report option. But the first thing I think of when people say, "omg you're so toxic for asking the enemy team to, 'please report our adc for calling me the n-word'" (yes, true story. saw the guys chat logs and he had about 3 lines of text: gl hf, ggwp, and that quote..and everyone on the boards were omg u so toxic such negative) is that, should we also shame people for going public with rape cases? Like, shouldn't they just report it to the police and then shut their mouths about it?

What is fair or not fair? U could have muted them if they annoyed u. If they broke rules, report after game. There is absolutely reason to call them trolls. To ask people to report them. Also your chat is full of fake bullshit. Banning champion that u intended to pick is not against rules. Player is allowed to ban any champion he wants, for any reason he wants. So they werent really trolls. Only reason they were "trolls" is cause u invented your own rules and declared them breakers of your own rules. And guess what. Your rules mean nothing here.

Proper way to handle situation:

-Dont call people trolls. Dont insult them for ANY reason. Dont tell others to report someone for ANY reason. Those are all punishable offenses -If their chat is annoying you and distracts you from game, mute them. -If they are breaking rules, wait till game is over and use one of offered options to report someone. -Check whats punishable before accusing people of doing something. There are many things that ignorant people think are punishable which actually arent. Banning or taking your pick is NOT against rules. Coming to your lane sometime during game is NOT against rules.

Anyway as u stated in your chat:

Whats the point of this thread? You already decided you dont wanna play anymore. And judging how negative and offensive u are. And how u have absolute disregard for game rules and put your own rules above everything else, you arent really welcome here. So to answer your question: Yes this ban was indeed fair. You did break rules. And breaking rules gets you punished. There is never "excuse" for breaking rules and its never acceptable no matter what happens.

There is no "instead". Annie was "troll" only cause u called her troll. What rule did Annie broke? None.

Don't come here looking for sympathy, you won't find much.

Trolls are god awful, but Riot really doesn't want to 1) find a way to punish them or 2) empower the players to somehow deal with them, so you are pretty much stuck.

You should be prepared for the possibility of trolls, flamers, etc. before you even queue in and have a plan for what you will do to deal with them.

The plan should be three steps:

  1. Mute them if they say anything.
  2. Do not respond with your own toxicity.
  3. Report them after the game.

That last one definitely seems like a way Riot empowers players to deal with trolls...
