This is why Riot will NEVER improve or fix the toxicity problem.

Just got this reply in a PM from a schoolteacher (names withheld).

I'm an educator. It's my Job to work with children and teenagers and i see this problem every single day. Society dictates how you have to behave. You get a role to fill. In league this role doesn't exist anymore. There is no punishment, no police, no risk of getting exiled. The only law in league? (No not riot) Your own values and norms. Freud is a good theory for this: Id, ego, and super-ego. check it out if you dont know it.

As I said, it's my job being a role model, helping confused teenagers to find their way, teaching values and having a strong identity, being authentic. I was on a league team and the people loved me cause i never got angry, was understanding and funny. Relaxed. It's about fun and improvement. That never works under pressure.

Solo Q turns me into an angry Ape, I admit i have some Issues in IRL who doesn't? Im working on them every day. When i play league i devolve into the 16 year old autism Kid i was a long time ago (im 25 now) I'm tilted the moment i get into the game cause i cant turn it off anymore. I simply cant join a game without falling back into that pattern of behaviour cause it's the entire environment. It is not possible to "simply stop" Those tips "how to stop being tilted" may work for some who are superficial affected but a lot of year long players are seriously tainted by it. It's like being with a good friend who isnt good for you. you automatically behave like a dick even tho you are the nicest guy if hes not around but its not possible to stop even tho you know it. all you can do is not see him again.

I'm thinking about finding a new team or at least a constant duo Q partner. I love the game but i need to change the environment. Otherwise I'll quit for good

What were you expecting when Riot hires computer engineers to deal with human psychology, anyway?

I don't see how the title of your post and the body of your post match up. So what if some random schoolteacher for whatever reason decides to be a dick in League? Does their personal anecdotes about their own behavior somehow dictate the millions upon millions of other people playing the game?

But, hey, since we're using anecdotal evidence, let's use another sample. I used to always be violently angry, a temper-tantrum-throwing child, but through the years I've grown up and become a better person. And when I play League - I don't regress back to that state. I don't get violently angry, I just use my knowledge to keep my anger in check, and put it to better use than just railing against my teammates.

I find it weird, too, how they apparently assess that the only rules in League are personal morals and the like when...Guess what. Riot has established rules and enforces those rules. Freud's Id, Ego, Superego thing doesn't factor in here all that well when there is an external force maintaining the rules.

All said, I'm doubtful this "educator" knows what they're talking about, and even beyond that point, I don't see how their lack of self-restraint in Solo Queue has anything to do with "why Riot will never improve/fix the problem".

Non-sequitur, much?

That's why they hired a guy with a masters degree in cognitive psychology and a PHD in cognitive neuroscience to deal with human psychology.

Society dictates how you have to behave. You get a role to fill. In league this role doesn't exist anymore. There is no punishment, no police, no risk of getting exiled. The only law in league? (No not riot) Your own values and norms.

...um, what?

Society is still around you in game - it's your interactions with other players and what they say.

Punishments are still around you in game - it's the chat restrictions and gameplay bans handed out by Riot.

You can't say these don't exist in League any more than you can say they don't exist in a classroom. Just because some people ignore the society and the rules doesn't mean that those societies and rules don't exist.

I’m skeptical that an educator would talk this way.

Toxicity is natural. That is why Riot will never stop toxicity.

Wait, so chat restrictions, suspensions, and bans arent signs youre doing something wrong in game?

Sounds like a personal problem. Is that your point? Why the "toxicity problem" will never be fixed? Because people have personal problems and they turn into dicks when they play this game? I mean, why is this person talking about societal roles to fill? This is a video game. Sounds like that person is treating it like a social event. I fucking hate whoever wrote that to you. They sound confused and lost. Cant just play the game for the sake of having fun playing a game.

So your using autism as an insult? WHY DOES EVERYBODY DO THAT?!

An insult is “Your a bag of balls that nobody wants”

I see a lot of negative toxic posts here and not one iota of anything even remotely relating to the discussion.

Umbral regent: Nowhere did the schoolteacher say he was being a dick in league. You clearly have problems with reading comprehension since everything I wrote went right over your head (faster than that train was going).

I'll leave the rest of you youngins with this famous quote some of us were taught years ago about human negativity:

It takes 100 screws and bolts to build a house, but only one nut to make the whole thing come crashing down.

Negativity will ALWAYS have far more of an influence on people's lives than positivity. Entropy is the law of nature.

I'll leave you with this famous quote from an underrated movie.

And here was the original PM. Not giving names again since I don't want you immature people stalking and harassing us.
