Overkill ? Or not ?

Today I got my first suspension ever in league of legends. A 14 day temp ban, it was 100% deserved I said something I should have never said and got punished for it. But my record was clean before in fact I’ve never gotten a warning or punishment ever in league I like to think I’m a pretty decent team mate usually. Last night I didn’t think and for the first time I got carried away in a totally inappropriate meme from school that was super offensive and should never be uttered it was on me and I take responsibility but 14 days for a first offence for something I typed seems excessive? It may because I got banned I feel this way but considering my track record it seems a bit overkill. Just so we’re clear this isn’t me asking for my ban to be lifted. I’m just curious as to why I got a 14 day ban rather than a chat restriction / warning.
