Should it be bannable to duo q with a smurf?

From what I understand of Riot's official rules, this is not a punishable offense. This behavior does ruin games and defiles the integrity of the ranked system though. Is this something Riot recognizes as a problem? Do you think it is a widespread behavior? Tbh I maybe run into a high elo smurf once in every 100 games or so, but I think it is popular this time of year for lower elo players to ask help for a little cash. Perhaps it's a problem that would be very difficult to detect though.

No...

RIOT would never discourage you from grouping with a friend.

If it's for cash though; they do find those people and ban them... eventually.

they are doing something about it: new season ladder is now split into dynamicQ and solo/duoQ

If you can somehow prove it is for cash then yes it instantly becomes reportable and bannable; if you cannot then you've got no case if it's only two friends who want to play together.

Paying for elo boosting of any sort is a bannable offense, but it is particularly hard to prove anything if the boosting is done by means of duo queuing with a smurf. When it comes to the serious offenses like this, it is extremely difficult to prove someone is paying money for a duo boost. There can't just be speculation over it; there must be proof beyond possible doubt. Rest assured that riot is doing what they can with what they've got, but keep in mind how difficult it can be to prove someone to be guilty for duo boosting.

If it is for elo boosting, then it is bannable already.
