I don't think this warrants a 14 Day Suspension
%%% is the offensive word for homo-sexual.
So at the start of the game someone was text singing the bag bag bag song, (Ariana Grande I think), and I parodied it using the word %%%. Okay fine not the best thing to say. But lets break this down a bit. Does simply typing %%% mean instant ban? What about using %%% in terms of cigarettes, would that perhaps warrant a ban? I was not using %%% in the derogatory sense, I was not calling anyone a %%%, I merely typed it because it somewhat (un)-cleverly rhymed with something someone else typed.
As for competitive back and forth regarding the Annie (an Annie main), dude was clearly salty and flaming my top yasuo for being shit (in his opinion). So we all on my team were triggering him, by making outlandish claims saying Annie is op and perma banned in LCS etc etc. So going off an earlier thing about needing to adapt we'd kept a schadenfreude type joke going on about needing to adapt. Whatever. Thoughts on ban? And if you say %%% = instaban please address where you draw the line between intentional toxicity and the use of certain words in a non-intending toxic way. For example, people's races, mexican, black, asian, they could all be said negatively with intent of racism and they could all be used in non-offensive ways. I know many times people have been passive aggressive toxic without actually saying any Key words, taking toxicity far further than playful parody. Though my previous point may seem tangential, my ultimate point questions intention and it's importance in defining what is toxic. Does intent matter when defining toxicity?
Now I understand that deriving intent makes things more difficult. Moreover people could make claims that they had no intent in being toxic, which obviously wouldn't fly in many situations. But my point isn't that intent should be the only factor in defining toxicity, but rather in cases clearly in lacking of confrontation shouldn't intent be weighted at least somewhat? If you agree with my previous statement, and that words themselves shouldn't be the only defining characteristic of what it means to be toxic, then would a 14 fuckin day suspension for one word-not used with any ill intent-not seem a little over the top?
Also in light of the importance of transparency I will mention that I had one other chat restriction (the five game thingy) within the past two seasons, maybe two (probably just one). I really do think this over the top, but maybe I'm wrong. Discuss. (serious replies only please).
