Is deliberately not surrendering to hold a player hostage report-worthy?

If it isn't, it should be.

So the enemy duo queue bot lane in my game were probably being flamed by the jungler (he didnt say anything in /all so I cant verify it) for feeding I assume (and they were dying A LOT). There was no way they could feasibly win, barring our mid/jungle duo losing their internet because it was already a 4v5 (their Talon ragequit. And even without our absurdly fed jungler, our botlane probably could have carried a 3v4.

The 9 death Thresh said "surrendering is for pussies" and the ADC said something to the effect of "we aren't surrendering because Yi is crying".

Now granted the Yi probably said some words on the No no list but they were definitely griefing

When a surrender vote goes up, everyone has equal right to vote yes or no.

There was no way they could feasibly win

Do your teams a favor and don't play ranked games. Ever. Game is over when a Nexus explodes.

I like how they saying they are held hostage when they agree that the match is gonna be around 30 to 45mins when they click the que button. People are like: someone dies > gg ff 15 > at 15 mins nobody wants to surrender > the ff guy : man fk this community , it sucks , im held hostage!!! Get me out of here, please surrender... Keep spaming the chat for another 20mins, walking around doing nothing. His team almost wins but they fail cuz they are 4v5. Finally the game ends and he is like > finally , why we had to wait 40mins to lose.

Not joking i had a game yesterday in which a guy from my team was walking around and doing nothing cuz "we gonna lose anyway" .. We open 3inhibs and we almost won the game. We couldve won if he was there. We tryharded for 40mins we lost and he said ( finally we lost, i told you team theres no way we can win this game. I will report you all , worst team i had since season 1 ) ...

Supermajority, because one outcome allows a revote at a later point, the other does not. If votes do not have an equal effect, they don't need to be treated equally.

Wanting to play just to watch other players have a meltdown arguably is.

I mean, this definitely falls into the category of actions where it is impossible to determine the intention (and thus whether it's punishable) unless it's explicitly admitted, but in theory it quite obviously goes against the summoner's code.

There was a case of 5 players holding a game hostage for more than 3 hours in Ascension couple of years ago because they refused to end the game and won't let the enemies win either (why the other 5 people won't surrender, I'm not entirely sure or remember). Those 5 players got banned and then later had their ban rescinded. The intent to make the other team suffer by keep playing for 3+ hours and not trying to win was quite very obvious in that case. Yet Rito did not punish them...

Yet this is the integral part. You as an enemy cannot keep the other team in the game, because they have the ability to simply surrender. If their team doesn't surrender, for whatever reason, then that's ultimately none of your business. This is entirely different from actively sabotaging a surrender vote with the explicit wish to annoy your own teammates.

Besides, all I'm saying is that there is a segment specifically saying that you should not enjoy yourself at other peoples' expense (with there obviously being a lot more leeway if it's about the enemy team).

The consistent ruling here would be to consider it punishable. But that's not even the point I was making. My point is that you simply assumed a certain motivation as given (wanting to play until the nexus explodes), thereby completely disregarding the hypothetical question that was actually being asked.

It's like saying "there's nothing wrong with buying a painting that you like" when somebody is asking whether it's illegal to knowingly purchase a stolen painting. You might not be wrong, but it's at best an irrelevant answer, and at worst a misleading one if it gets interpreted as being on topic.

There is no way for voting no to surrender to be considered griefing by Riot's standards.

On the other hand, if your winning team is dicking around instead of winning the game, that could be considered griefing by Riot's standards.

If they were refusing to surrender because they still think they can win, that's their choice. If they say nothing about surrendering, there is no way to determine motivation and Riot errs on the side of not trolling.

If they admit they were refusing to surrender specifically to harrass or troll another player, than yes, I would say it's reportable. I would probably report them under both harrassment and griefing/feeding, since there is a gameplay effect.

If those are the only matches that you DC, then you can DC those with impunity.
