How do they decide how to ban you?

I just received my first ban ever for this comment in my game, " I don't see how being toxic towards me is going to help the game. If you want to continue to act like this I will not continue playing with you". We won the game, and the jungler got the enemy team to report me. The next game is said I was "toxic" my comment was asking an enemy jungler not to kill our dc'd jungler. He responded by saying this is ranked deal with it %%%got. I said that is reportable unsportsmanlike and verbal abuse. he said cry me a river bitch followed by the enemy support and top laner, who were his partners in dynamic que, flaming me as well. Then my adc started flaming me for dying I responded by saying that being toxic towards me wont help win the game and being childish will only set us behind even more as a team. Is this what the community is like now? I got reported by 4 people here and now Im banned for 14 days. Do I wait this out or try to talk to a support specialist and review this. Because I know it is machine operated to determine bans based on reports.

That is not how bans/reports work. multiple people reports counts just as much if just one single person reported you. Now if you were ban for toxic behavior common sense would tell you to post your chat logs if you want an honest discussion about it. Seeing how this is a 14 day ban you either had previous punishments before, or you were ban for a different reason. This would make sense especially if you didnt get chat logs, nor an email stating why you were ban.

now Im banned for 14 days.

  1. Your next punishment, should you get one in the next 3 months so, will be a permaban, so be on your best behavior.
  2. One normally doesn't skip chat restrictions and go to bans unless it was for death threats/racism/homophobic statements. It doesn't matter if you were just quoting someone else, don't do it.

Punishments are handed out on a progression-based system.

10-game chat restriction. 25-game chat restriction. 2-week ban. Permanent ban.

You only receive a punishment if you show consistent negative behavior across multiple games. Showing a true reform effort over ~3 months time can allow you to go down a tier/level (i.e. 2-week ban to 25-game restriction). As DrCyanide said except for extreme cases (i.e. death threats, racist comments, etc.) you generally don't skip punishment tiers for a first offense. Ultimately though if you want help then post the entirety of your chat logs here.
