Chatbox Restriction Tuning in a Positive Light.

Chatbox restriction is a brutal penalty, but in a good way. It limits the player from socializing and receives no honors from players. Chat Restriction penalties only occurs players are being toxic. Mostly it occurs from frustration due to a teammate's performance which can lead into toxic arguments depending on the wording. Sometimes the wording can be mistaken where the player could of taken it as offensive or possibly incoming troll report.

However the one thing Chatbox Restriction does wrong is placing a penalty on players the first time and not giving any sort of warning. Not only the player been reported, but forced penalty applied. I know players, moderators and developers want to take that penalty as a sign of a warning, but they're wrong. A penalty is a penalty meaning the action was taken care of with a punishment applied. A warning means the action was taken care of by giving them a notification without applying a punishment giving them heads up not to do the attempt again.

If this suppose to help out the community by keeping it toxic clean. Do them justice by letting them know what they have been reported for without applying a penalty. That way if they continue to do the same tactics 2 more times then the chatbox restriction will be applied. That way they can see they were warned 3 times and that will take effect on the player. This way it will have better positive results than the current system claiming penalties are warnings.

It would be difficult for the player to make a appeal because they were warned 3 times without any sort of penalty. That means they never made any effort to contact support during the other times they were warned to clear their name if they were mistakenly wrong. That's if their reported wording was seen as a mistake and not toxic.

I know players want toxic players to be punished asap, but the only way that should apply is if they truly used racial slurs and anything a long those lines where it's close to threats. That sort of toxic level should be only allowed 1 warning and a penalty is applied at the second stage if get hit by reports for the second time.

It's funny because I had a discussion about the idea of a warning with someone on these boards like a few hours ago.

I absolutely hate toxicity and think that people who flame teammates for doing poorly deserve their punishment.

HOWEVER, I agree that you should get a warning first time, because it's true that many people just don't realize that what they're saying is unacceptable. And if you want someone to stop doing something, you first tell them to, you don't punish them straight away or it'll just make them angry. It's just common sense to me so it baffles me that Riot isn't doing it.

I mean, they're doing it when you go AFK for your first game, so why not when you're being toxic the first time ?

Your warning is the Summoner's Code that you agreed to in the Terms of Service when you started playing.

Mostly it occurs from frustration due to a teammate's performance

No. Mostly it occurs from a lack of self-control from people who react to their perception of a teammate's performance by badgering, belittling, and berating the person who isn't performing up to their standards.

If you're typing more lines than chatbox restriction would allow you to then you are typing too much in games. You will see future penalties more likely than not...consider that your warning.

This is way too many warnings and would encourage more toxic chatter. I wouldn't mind this at all because I happen to like trash talk and banter. I think it makes the game more entertaining.

It's getting progressively worse each season and pretty soon you won't be able to type anything much at all without even being considered "toxic". Players are little babies...and Riot caters to them.

Yes, I'd be all for a more escalated punishment for slurs or threats. And significantly less punishment or none at all for trash talk and banter. But, I'm probably in the minority here.

Your warning is the terms of use and summoners code, in my opinion. In order to drive, you have to learn the rules. You arent excused from speeding the first time because you need a warning first. In order to play league, you have to agree to the terms of use. You arent excused from breaking them because you need a warning first.

My honor's still locked from near a week ago, no warning, and I'm not even close to the first fourth of toxicity people achieve. I don't even care about the restriction, I rarely talk anyway. This honor lock with no knowledge of when or how it's gonna be removed is more tilting than a feeder.
