What do you gain out of FFing in norms?

I find it frustrating that more matches end in an FF than a nexus kill. What do you gain out of FFing? 6 minutes? I find it unsatisfactory no matter what team I'm on. If I carry really hard and they FF I just lose the potential full build stage of the game, the most balanced and interesting part.

When we FF we lose the potential comeback, which are extremely fun to play out and destroy the team you were just losing to.

So what do you gain out of FFing? 4 minutes of your time? Is it really worth it? Imagine this: let's say you've FFed 100 times, but if you didn't FF you'd win 30 of those. Is that true? It could be, but people like you that FF don't know that because you'd surrender at any sight of loss. If they've got 3 inhibs you say GG in all chat even though they just threw a teamfight. If they've got a 12/0 Jinx you say the game is unwinnable, it's already over. Is it useful to be that impatient?

The only reason I've been salty in any of my games, I normally don't get salty when I play Leeague, but things like that really grind my gears. The fact that you could have just not-losed if you didn't click the button. I do understand if it's 100% guaranteed and the team kills are 5 - 35 and they have baron buff yes, understandable. But 25 - 35 + 2 tower advantage is no reason to ff.

Directed at those who chop off the most interesting 5-10 minutes of over half the games in my match history.

Surrendering a game is always circumstantial, so I feel like the answer for as to why will always differ. In my cases, I typically only really consider it, if the match becomes horribly one sided. I am against those who bend easily to an ailing match, but everyone has their own limit. Plus, being forced to be pushed through a match that ultimately rewards not enough to justify the potential suffering isn't always worth it.

I'm all for playing for a comeback and getting practice in.

That said, I'll gladly surrender if the game is utterly out of hand, to the point of being unfun. I had a game today where my ADC and I were pushed up under turret by an aggressive enemy duo throughout the entire laning phase, yet our jungler was barely present or ganked through such poor angles that he gave himself no chance of accomplishing anything. Meanwhile, our mid had fed so much in such little time that the enemy midlaner could leisurely gank top or bot with little chance of counterplay. Our midlaner refused to play defensively, and our jungler was more interested in harassing me with unreasonable demands than actually engaging. I only died a single time, but it would have been a dreary experience to be slowly pushed further and further into my base over the next ten minutes.

This game has pretty much just become another excuse to turn everything into a Call of duty style TDM. No one cares about towers or objectives, And I am done trying to get teamwork going on my teams. They want KILLS, thats ALL they want. And if they dont get "most kills bruh" or cant "Solo carry" then they give up and forfeit. I can understand when matches are too one-sided to win. but no one cares about winning anyways. they want a "Perfect game" with all the kills going to them. as soon as that possibility goes out the window, they FF. Cuz working as a team means sharing the spotlight, and what SOLO carry wants to share that?

There are plenty of reasons to surrender, as stated in previous comments.

Making a comeback is a lot of fun, I agree! Those games are the best!

BUT I have to weigh whether or not winning my current match is worth the time required to do it. For any number of reasons... my team is toxic/rubs me the wrong way, I'm tilted, etc etc... a victory won't necessarily make the current match fun. This is a game, after all. I'm not paid to play it as a pro or streamer. I play solely to have fun. If I get stressed out or a match stops being fun and I feel like even a win can't really redeem it, I would so much rather FF and get a fresh start (or take a break if I need to). Winning isn't everything to me, so the ever present possibility of a comeback isn't always enough to make me want to see it through.

And that's the beauty of the vote. Everyone on the team gets to vote.

its just like you said - the other team doesnt want you to surrender. so why give them what they want and continue?

when you are getting slaughtered by the other team they are laughing at you and having a great time. yes you have a small chance to make a comeback but you would have to play so carefully that it becomes unfun anyway. realistically the best/only way to get back at your enemies is to surrender and cut their fun short.

also if you ff'd 100 times at 6 minutes per surrender then you have saved yourself 10 hours of losing. free time is valuable. i like to spend as much time as i can winning and as little as i can losing.

If you are down 6 towers and 20 kills at 15 minutes and you are the only person who isn't ffing you are being an asshole. There is a reason ffing exists, learn to use it, not just for yourself, but for the other 9 people in the game. If it's ranked I can understand not ffing, but in norms why waste peoples time? Not only that but you mention carrying with full build, yet you don't play any carry champs so why would that matter? I think most people hate having people like you that refuse to ff in their games.

It's normal so you gain nothing, but you loose nothing either, nobody cares to win in normals you don't gain anything. I ff in normal when i see that my teammates wants to FF ( even if we have late game on paper and things like that, it's normal so i don't care ), like 3 dudes wants to quit so i'll ff too. In ranked however i'll never surrender because each victory counts and we can always come back.

Since I'm in a hurry, I will just sum it up:

Screw 2% comeback chance. If we surrender now, we can have a completely new chance to win in the same time we otherwise prolong our defeat.

Also please consider that people like me who attend a job don't have hours of hours to play in the evening. I need a FWotD, and I'm not fighting for your "fun comebacks", at least not in normals.

What do you gain from continuing on with a game that is already settled? The worst behaviour in the game is trapping your team in a lost game by refusing to surrender. Those few minutes a game add up. For a while I was measuring the time I spent trapped in lost games and it came out to over 30 hours over 3 years. That's just the time wasted on lost games. The goal of the game is to take the other team's nexus. When the possiblity of doing that becomes a remote off chance you surrender so as not to waste anybody's time.

What I was trying to say was, why play to win if you gain nothing out of winning? It's worth it to play out those losses because you aren't losing anything are you? You're losing minutes, if you use minutes to lose, how is that better than using the same 5 minutes to win? No matter what your opinion on winning/losing is, the answer is neutral and you should not be caring in the first place because either way you're still spending time on the game, except one way you're giving up and the other way you're making an attempt, you could actually see if you really can win a lost game. It happens and it's not as rare as you think but I guess you wouldn't know because you've probably never experienced a comeback in your life.

This is entertainment and if you aren't getting entertained during your losses than what's the point in even playing. If you aren't having fun while you lose, while you are put at a major disadvantage, while you have the chance to prove something then you shouldn't be playing League. If winning is for you then I recommend https://seansleblanc.itch.io/push-the-button-to-win because you can't lose.
