CAN WE HAVE A SETTING IN THE SETTINGS THAT REMOVE ANY SWEAR WORDS FROM THE MESSAGES I WRITE

TheFortex··0 votes·1,682 views

like for example i wrote " Can you stop Fcking inting you stupid Sit" the game would make it " Can you please stop dying like a moron?" the game would actually make it "Can you stop inting you stupid"

The swear words aren't the problem there though. The attitude is the problem.

But league could get rid of words like "KYS" do what overwatch did when you type "GG EZ" it inserts a funny random phrase. There are some outdated rules and setting i feel in the game that could use some spicing up. Add a little pepper maybe you will think it tastes better.

The issue isn't the word/phrase - it's the idea.

If you have it "autoreplace" with a different word/phrase, people will know that you're saying "gg ez". Even if it says "i love monkeys". Everyone would come to know, likely quite quickly, that you were being toxic.

Hiding toxicity behind a glass wall doesn't make it less toxic.

You are entirely misreading this. Riot does not consider "GG EZ" as toxic. Blizzard finds it toxic and instigating but not as punishable offense. So instead of replacing it with *** <<<<<<<<<<<<<< HIDING BEHIND A GLASS WALL. They dampen the meaning by making it silly. Making it so people find it more fun to type just to see what is all there to be discovered. They essentially remove the meaning of GG EZ from the game unless you go out of your way to go around the auto detector and type something like "ghg ehz" ( "." doesnt work for getting around the system if i remember correctly may be wrong).

Riot certainly does consider bragging such as "gg ez" to be toxic. It will not be punished if said once in a blue moon.

There is no reason to hide toxicity behind a glass wall of "dampening the meaning". You are not actually dampening the meaning. Nobody will think "I like monkeys" means "I like monkeys" - they'll realize that it means something toxic and the effect will be the same.

So your saying if I said "You suck dick" and league changed it to "You have amazing hair" league players would still be like "DUDE WHY DID YOU TELL ME YOU SU C K DICK" I think you are just lacking faith in change.

That's kinda how it works, yeah, when you habitually and without fail change a word into something else, people connect the two words and when one is said, the other is meant.

If you've ever heard of Pavlov's dog, it's really the same thing - once you condition someone to see good things when they know toxicity is being said (either by someone bypassing the filter or saying it again or something), they'll begin to connect the "nice" thing with the toxicity, and then the toxic attitude still has it's effect.

I consider a white lie under certain context a good lie. You know the meaning of it but you are more happy to see the "Trollers" or "Toxic people that apparently get banned/chat restricted" get trolled via that phrase. I dunno i think you just are not into changing things up with how some things are or maybe just not a fan of Blizzard. That is okay though doesn't matter. Like if you said "Would be interesting in testing but I don't think it would make it to live" Would of been a better answer then a pessimistic unchangeable viewpoint. White lies can be good lies ;3 I recommend giving it a try.

(BTW not interested in arguing with someone who isn't open to new thoughts or Ideas. So I will read your response but not reply and be getting off since it is late. If you decide to come and debate with a more open mind then maybe we could continue the debate on why this is good/bad/or would change nothing)

I'm fully open to your ideas. However, you refuse to accept that people will know that <silly phrase> means <toxic phrase> and that's the problem - it'll still be toxic and the effect will be the same.

JimTheSnail1 votes

No i recognize that fact. But some people would rather see something silly even if it was toxic underneath. And nearly everyone would still know it is toxic. Do you think people are more likely to respond to <toxic phrase> or the <silly phrase> or equal to them both? For blizzard I think, based off of playing since release and in beta/alpha, that mechanic was a good thing for the community. Mashed potatoes that had potatoes that where not peeled are the exact same as potato that are peeled. You just are changing the visual. I prefer peeled potatoes when making mashed potatoes bc the visual and texture of it feel better to me. Even if it is the same thing. Plus that is what the PBE is there for. To test if said mechanics work. Maybe we both are wrong and nobody cares and just forget about it.

well everyone will know what the toxic guy means BUT of course it would not have the same effect it would totally not be... when someone sees <silly quote> he knows its toxic and it means something toxic but he totally wont be affected like when he sees the <toxic quote> itself.

think about it

I guess I see there solution as making the affects on people less Irritating or annoying so that the people who are not normally toxic but hate such barbaric behavior that is not sportsmanlike in any way (unless banter) don't get made. I have learn to love the community in overwatch that types stuff like "GG EZ" which turns into "I'm wrestling with some insecurity issues in my life but thank you all for playing with me." OFC they are too completely different companies and both have there opinions but hey sometimes they can learn from eachother :3

"Disable the Enter key until further notice" may be a good approach. Or you type out whatever rage message you'd intended to get it out of your system, but then Backspace all of it; and maybe type out less aggressive lines after.

I just think riot prefers to punish toxic players until they finally give up and leave over giving them a way to hide that

This guy isn't even trying to conceal the bait.

But you don't get punished for swearing. Do you understand that swearing isn't something they punish?

People can't just turn on the Mature Language Filter in the settings if they find you annoying so I don't see a reason why this should be implemented.
