Dodging Punishments

This more than a rant than anything else, but here goes: I get that dodging is annoying, but sometimes its necessary. I just had went into a champion select where I called mid, but then got it stolen from me by a guy who locked Cho'Gath. Then a guy locked Tahm Kench without telling anybody where he was going, even though we already had an Alistar support. Our ADC had locked in and left. This left me, a mid with no runes, summoner spells, or intentions of playing jungle, to frantically change all of it in the 10 seconds left in champion select. I chose to instead dodge. And now I'm typing this as I wait for a 5 minute queue timer to run out...

There's little reason to ever play Blind Pick once you own enough champs to draft. It's the wild west in there, these sorts of things will always be problems.

Yeah, the main reason I see to play Blind Pick is to play a champion that is broken and always banned like Zoe on her release or what not.

Even then, I make a point of assembling my buddies for a 5-man team so that I don't need to worry about lane calls.

Between lag and inconsistent entry into the pre-game lobby, calling lanes is an utter shitshow. Plus, lane calls are conventionally accepted but in no way enforced, so folks can blatantly ignore you. It's just not worth my time.

I have yet to try out the new Swain in a real match, because I'm waiting for a night where all my friends are on at once.

I've been playing a lot of Blind Pick lately just because the queue is quicker. But I go in knowing that sometimes, despite everything, you're gonna end up playing support Heimer because someone just did what they wanted.

As long as you go in knowing that it can all go to hell with little warning it can be kind of fun.

Yeah, that's fair.

I'm only really comfortable in 2-3 of the five roles, so the potential to get shoved into something I can't play is high for me. I suppose if you're flexible and easygoing, Blind can work out for you. Of course, there's still the potential for two of your teammates to have a dispute with each other in champ select, which can really derail a game.

I don't think anyone plays Blind for high skill. It is Blind after all and I think expecting high skill play is just a recipe for heartbreak.

You can also have the Warwick that decides to repeatedly jump the enemy jungler who's 3 levels up and then AFKs when no one will follow him. You just kinda have to go with it. The key to enjoying Blind Pick is expecting it to be a shitfest, so whenever it isn't one it's suddenly super fun and awesome. Having a sense of humor about it all and taking it as practice for playing behind helps too.

Blind definitely isn't for everyone. Probably none of the people who post to PB.

Agreed. I love blind pick. But like you, I go in expecting chaos, but for some reason I love it.

5 minutes wait to dodge a potential 15-20 minutes or more toxic fest is hardly what I would call a punishment.

Rito has to balance between preventing abuse and allowing people to escape such a situation so 5 minutes timeout is nothing.

Also, you should expect this kind of thing in Blind. If you want to play mid and refuse to play jungle, try draft.

Tbh this really should be a thing due to actually players wanting a good game they should have a chance of being able to dodge instead of wasting 30-50 mins of their lives with a bunch of trolls who will either int or dc.

Yeah you must be playing blind pick. The lawless lobby of league of legends. No complaining allowed. But yeah it should take more than one, the question is how much time is allowed to pass between dodges?
