I'm a bit disappointed in this community

We had a tornado drill in my dorm while I was playing ARAM, which I thought was the fire alarm at the time, and so I told them "fire in building" before leaving my desk and going downstairs. I walk back after the drill is over and the game is just about to end, and I look in chat to see "report teemo for afk". I'm a bit sickened that people are so unwilling to see past the fact that they're playing a game to ask for a report on a random emergency/drill. Sure some people may lie, but jesus it disgusts me that people would have someone put this game over their safety.

Edit: The votes/comments perfectly reflect my point. People are trying to justify reporting, being upset, etc. I'm frankly surprised that people are actually making the "look at it from their point of view" argument when that ironically proves they're only thinking for themselves. If they applied their own logic to themselves, they would see that reporting and getting huffy over this afk doesn't matter.

While I don't agree with them calling for reports, look at it from their point of view. You're in the middle of a team game when all of a sudden one of your teammates goes afk for an extended period of time, only coming back when the game is about to end. Yes you told them you had an emergency but they don't know that for sure, nor do they know how long it's gonna last for. When you think about it that way they have every right to be upset and frustrated with you.

As for your account don't worry, as unless you have a frequent history of leaving/afking in games you won't be punished as the system is tuned to take emergency and unexpected situations in mind.

Do remember that about ANYBODY can use the exact same excuses, be it true or not.

I mean, people look for any excuse to put blame off themselves. That isn't exclusive to the community. That aside, I think you are fine unless you have a frequent history of afks.

We had a tornado drill in my dorm ... which I thought was the fire alarm

I'd be more worried about that than your teammates.

There have been many people who have falsely claim "fire," and some toxic streamers who have promoted trying to use that as a way to AFK without penalty.

The reality is if you don't AFK often, it won't matter if you have to leave once or twice for an emergency or a drill. Life happens, there's some leeway in the system for it. If you're AFKing enough for their report to really matter, then you've got more problems than your "emergencies" that you need to figure out.

no one knows if the afk/disconnect is out of your control or if you're doing it on purpose.

if you don't do it frequently, then leave buster doesn't touch you.

if you do it frequently, then one way... or another.... leave buster will getcha getcha getcha getcha... one day... maybe next week...
