About 2 months ago, I was flagged with a 2 week suspension for calling someone a homophobic slur. Now before you accuse me of being toxic, I want to give some background on me.

I have played League of Legends for over 6 years, since seasons 2, and have never received more than a single chat restriction for a GGEZ in season 4. I am by no means a toxic player. Sure I may say things like "shut the fuck up and play the game" when my team is arguing, but I do not have a past history of being toxic at all.

For my first suspension, I was in game in a one for all, and there was somebody else on the enemy team who was typing major threats in the chat. Yes I should have muted him, but he was attacking my whole team. There were multiple, and I mean multiple threats sent into the chat. The one that I remember clearly, the one that really stood out to me was:

"I will murder your parents and pistol whip you with their dead bodies"

I proceeded to call him a f***ot on the internet, and to be quiet as you are not funny and ruining this match for many. I understand my behavior as not acceptable, but I wanted to put him in his place. After the game my teammates and I reported him, but I was the one that received a two week suspension, and he goes on scott free.

Fast foward to two days ago, I get into the game and call someone the same word for complaining. It had been my first game in several months, as this year I took a major break from league and uninstalled about 3 times this year as I was trying to distance myself from the game.

The only problem I have with this is that I wish I could have received a 2 week ban for this time, instead of the first time. Instead I was permanently banned and can no longer use my account that has over $1300 into it. My behavior was definitely unacceptable on the second offense, but I do believe that my first ban was unfair to me.

I have contacted player support, talked to them about this case and suggested maybe I bring this here. I know many will sit here and tell me that I am just a toxic player but to be really honest with you I am not. I had max honor last season, and before I was banned this year had lvl 3 honor. I enjoy the game very much and just hope my account can have a second look into it.

You were warned during your two week ban that any further toxicity would result in a permanent ban. You chose to ignore that. I'm sorry but there isn't anything you can do to get your account unbanned.

This isn't about their behavior. Then breaking the rules doesn't make it okay for you to have done so.

It is completely valid for both of you to be deserving of punishment. But your punishment is based solely on your chat. And you did something that is so extremely toxic to the point it is instantly escalated to a higher punishment.

It isn't unfair at all.

I completely understand my punishment but I feel as thought the second ban is more acclimated for a 2 week suspension and my first one should have never happened. I did stop being toxic, I tried to dig my account of the honor level 0 as well. I just believe it was unfair on my side.

the person that gets the most warns gets the ban, thats how the system works, you could do nothing wrong but if enough people report you then they will do something, in your case you swore and be semi-toxic, and thats enough for riot

No, that's not true. You can be reported by every player in every game you play but if you do nothing wrong you will not be punished. Further, you can be reported by one player in one game but if you've done something wrong he punished.

Who said he got to go free? Whether you believe it or not, that sentence isn't that toxic. He can't act on those "threats" and you know it. It's literally typical internet banter. Yes, it's toxic. No, he's not likely to get banned off of one instance of that. At most, a chat restriction.

Again, you did something that was extremely toxic and should not need a warning. He was doing what's typical on the internet, being a trash talking idiot.

How is it unfair though? He was already on thin ice, which means he was already gone through various other punishment. You have no idea if these other people have gotten off Scott free, they could have gotten chat restricted which you would never know unless you play with them.

You think years of playing this game and spending a lot of money on it only for it all to go away from saying %%%%%% TWICE in a span of two months is fair and realistic then I too should get perma banned seeing how I've said %%%%%% three times in a row in a single day. Grow up

I guess I present hatred to the gay community if I have the word Gay in my name. Are you sure you're not making a baseless accusation just because it ends with the word gay? Has it crossed your mind that maybe my name actually means "This Game is Happy" for instance? Quite immature of you to force your personal feeling towards me. If anything, ending it at the vilifying part would have been a great answer to my question. But in the end you try to strong arm me for no reason other than to try to "humiliate" me, How immature.

He was specifically warned with a 14 day ban that any further toxicity would be a permanent ban.

Other players who do not do things so extremely and universally inappropriate get more warnings/guiding punishments to reform their behavior. But they do get punished (starting with chat restrictions).

THIS is hate speech "I believe all %%%s and gays should never be allowed to marry because they like men" THIS isn't hate speed "Stop being a %%%%%% and just play the game man" Hate speech is quite literally a speech disowning a certain persons lifestyle and beliefs. A single word cannot act as a speech. Which leads back to why I believe it should've been a chat restriction, or rather a harsh one if that satisfy's you. But whatever, in the end we're just two baboons typing away at each other because we like to waste time and prove our own points disregarding what the others says.

I don't know you personally, so I'm not going to disagree with this. It's worth nothing, however, that even non-toxic players can behave in a toxic fashion, and using homophobic hate speech is definitely toxic behavior, even if it is a rarity for you.

I understand that another player did something horrendously reprehensible, but the correct action is to mute them and report them so the system can punish them accordingly -- and that behavior is definitely punishable. Engaging back only puts your own account at risk, and it does not "put someone in their place" to target them with hate speech -- it is purely an offensive and hate-filled comment, even if not intended as such. In effect, when you break the rules because someone is trolling you or trying to rile you up, you're letting them win.

Riot has a zero tolerance policy on this behavior, and the 14-day ban is your warning that the behavior is unacceptable: everything before a permanent ban is, technically, a warning that your behavior needs to change -- dramatically, in this case. Using a zero tolerance word again is a surefire way to earn a permanent ban.

You used a zero-tolerance word, which resulted in a two-week ban and a warning that any further misbehavior would cause your account to be permanently banned. You went inactive on the account, thus demonstrating zero active reform. Then, a dozen games later, you used the exact same word.

I mean if you have 1300 dollars on an account and your already warned for being toxic, I would suggest to stop swearing or /mute all at the beginning of the game if you cant control yourself, I understand not being able to swear is stupid but its a small price to pay for this 9 year ongoing f2p game

It was actually my first solo game back on when I re downloaded. I had really forgotten how my account was in the red zone. After my first ban I did not do anything toxic that I can remember. If i had, I definelty would have been banned before this. I just feel that my first ban was unfair to me and how the other player got off free. I just would like a second chance of some kind if you understand.

As already said, you shouldn't have used a homophobic slur. Riot has a Zero Tolerance Policy for hate speech, which you used. You got punished. You should've just muted the person and then reported them.

Also, you didn't play for months. You were still on VERY thin ice. Time away from the game doesn't lower your punishment tier, positive games do. You need to play the game and not have a valid report against you to drop just one tier, and that can take months.

Your money also doesn't mean anything when it comes to you breaking TOS. Spending money on this game doesn't give you a free pass to be toxic. And you were toxic. Calling anyone a homophobic slur isn't allowed in real life, and ironically many sites will get rid of you immediately for using any kind of hate speech.

You can make a new account and try again, but you will not be getting this account back.

I see a problem here, you left the game for a while but the game doesn't see it that way, the games sees an immediate reoffence with no reform. Which is true in a way because while you were gone but your behaviour did not change.

It pains me to hear that a 6 year vateran got banned, its not you first rodeo obviously so let's not kid ourselves but man this shucks.

So I'd say I agree that you don't come across as toxic. However, the problem is that you used words that violated ZERO tolerance policies. If you used any other type of language, you'd probably be alright. But you seem to like certain words, and that's what got you.

I'd recommend learning to communicate thoughts without profanities. If you can't do that, spend some time learning which ones to never use. Then never use them.
