what i assume to be client bugs has gotten me another afk penalty

This happens so much and I'm fed up. waiting 20 minutes before I can start a game with my work and sleep schedule is tilt inducing to say the least, but to give some detail:

champ, skin, and runes picked--everyone's locked in and ready to start. Once I get to the loading screen I alt-tab to Spotify so I can close it and make the job of running the client a bit easier on my computer. when I come back it says every single person is loaded to 100%, so I imagine the game should be starting soonish, but I'm patient.

after maybe 4 minutes tops, the loading screen disappears and I'm returned to the client with a leaverbuster blocking my view of the scoreboard. THAT'S IT. it didn't say I was at 0%, the loading circle wasn't frozen, everything I can check to see that my client is functioning properly was working as it should have been--excluding the stupendous amount of time I was waiting for the game to start. this isn't the first time its happened, and I've admittedly been capable of afk behavior in the past. but this is not the same, and it's not fair after all the time I've spent going through the motions and holding myself to a higher standard to get the big wrist slap for something I couldn't have even avoided if I noticed it

I'll do my absolute best to resolve this problem any possible way i can, but I have no clue what is causing it. no other apps running in the background seem to have an effect, though I usually avoid that problem to begin with so I have a feeling its something more complicated or just unfortunate network issues..

can the penalty be lifted? im sorry other people have to waste 10 minutes getting back into the motion of things but im trying to follow the rules here and this doesnt feel like its something i have control over.

trying desperately to not lose my temper as rationally I know that doesn't aid in accomplishing anything

tl dr: do not ult tab out of the game loading screen, ever.

This has happened to me before as well. League client has a tendency of freezing sometimes when you ult tab out right after you get into the loading screen.

What actually happened to you (probably) is that your screen is stuck on loading but game has actually started. After 3 mins, your teammates don't see you getting into the game, they start a remake. And boom you got an afk penalty.

To prevent this from happening, don't ult tab out from the loading screen.

If you did ult tab out and then went back, you can check to see if your screen is freezing by looking at your ping. If your ping still refreshes every second, then likely you're good. Otherwise you're frozen.

If you're frozen, the best solution is just to kill league client and reconnect immediately. That should get you back into the game in time.
