I thought it was a bannable offense if someone picked something the team didnt agree on?

Just had a blitzcrank top lane in my ranked game who was "playing for fun because it's preseason", went 0/6/3 and did absolutely nothing the entire game. We all agreed AS A TEAM in champion select that we didn't like it, but he wanted to be a selfish prick and waste 27 minutes of our time because he has that "It's preseason who cares" fucking attitude. I don't give a flying fuck if it's preseason, every game should be treated as if it's your PROMOS TO GETTING IN DIAMOND.

It is never a bannable offense to pick.

It isn't even bannable to not communicate with your team. The most that will happen per Riot's most recent policy on the matter is that they will lock the account until the player contacts support, when support will discuss with them how they can continue to play their off-meta pick that they like playing but still help their team have a good game.

There is no officially recognized required meta. That would be required before punishing people for playing outside of it would be a viable option. Riot themselves encourage and support players playing non-meta picks - it's how the meta changes (think Jhin mid, Zyra, Ez jungle)

Choosing an off meta champion is not reportable. Neither is choosing a champion your teammates don't agree on. You might be reportable for harassment on that end if you continue to harass him about it.

However! It might be reportable that he wasn't trying. It could be considered intentional feeding or giving up.

Also, just for the record, reportable and bannable are two different things. Extreme situations get you banned.

It's not that far off meta. I've seen several high-elo streamers try Blitz top, with a variety of builds.

Sucks that it didn't work out, but you can't really enforce how seriously your teammates take the game.

Look up support singed and nunu cases.

TL:DR you are allowed to play any champ in any lane, and you can't be banned by riot for doing so.

Dude, a Blitz top is a decent pick, just like a Leona top. Build him ad or lethality though. His W is an attack speed steroid and his E doubles his Ad for a hit. At least that is what I would do.

how would you draw the line?

what if some guy has 60% winrate with irelia and 40% with jax but sometimes he just feels like playing jax? should that be against the rules?

and then even if you forced him to play irelia there is no way to force him to play his hardest. he could just play for fun and make crazy dives or do a weird build or whatever.

you are never going to be able to force someone to tryhard every single game, nor should you be able to. this is a video game and people should be able to play it however they want.

I'm pretty sure Riot wouldn't release things like this: https://euw.leagueoflegends.com/en/page/forge-your-path-preseason-responsibly-2

if random shit during preseason was actually bannable offense. They literally encourage you to roll random champion in to random role with random masteries.

edit: I mean if Riot's official site tells me to go gragas adc with grasp of the undying, why the fuck would they ban me for it?
