Why Riots punishment system is a pathetic joke.

I look forward to seeing all of you downvote me, and you're exactly who I'm talking about.

I really love knowing that Riot is so obsessed with banning out kids who are "toxic" on this game, yet they don't care in the LEAST about the kids who troll. You guys have a mute button, so that people who have bad days and decide to talk trash on an ONLINE VIDEO GAME, can be MUTED and left alone, yet these are the people getting banned everyday. The sad thing is, nobody cares about "bettering" league, because it will never happen. Millions of people play, and the game is not going to settle into a spot where everybody is an angel online. People report because they feel good about themselves knowing somebody else might get punished, not because they're actually sitting there crying over FattyMcBongHit420's "You're bad at Gangplank" message.

People sit here and get banned for a simple message like that, yet there are kids who are sitting here trolling the SHIT out of games and typing things in chat like "It makes me feel good to know you're losing :D"

This is the problem with riot. Maybe people will grow up and use the mute button, and you guys can start to ban the kids who are trolling and ACTUALLY ruining the games for us.

I upvoted you m8. I just hit silver 2 and my first game in silver 2 was where we were winning real hard. Enemy team was overwhelmed till my leona went duskblade and maw and walked down mid and fed and gave away our baron and dragon plans. then she sold her items and initiated fights that killed us all. Ultimately, we lost. "enjoy bois" "wow %%%s gg ez" -leona 2k16

i mean ofcourse riot is busy banning people for unintentionally afk's or the firewall bug so they probs don't have time for those who actually deserve bans. They've a lot in hand you know, like giving everyone a 20 min penalty for afking once because of internet connections.

Two things. First, Riot does care about all forms of toxicity. Chat is just easier to enforce and also the most visibly enforced. People don't get banned for simple messages. I often criticize bad decisions in game but I never curse or insult the person in doing them. I've never been punished for it. My point is you don't get banned for just disagreeing.

Second, you do care about the downvotes.

A lot of people feel things have gotten out of hand.

The term "toxic" is now used interchangeably for anything that's unpleasant.

Which means that we need to ban Ryze from the game, sorry guys.

Simple fact is, it's infinitely easier to find, prove, and punish chat toxicity than silent trolling, so it's a lot more likely to get punished. Sending in chat logs is effortless and reviewing them for patterns of toxicity takes minutes. Finding silent trolling requires behavioral analysis, which can take hours of careful review. You can't even just have people watch a reported troll's games since they might not troll every game - It might be days before they act up again. Meanwhile they're going to go around sniping buffs, walling teammates, and 'helping' with Cataclysm because honestly it's just very hard to detect if you're not sitting there watching it right at that minute. Good trolls can even intentionally feed every now and then without being too obvious about it.

If you have a solution to this simple fact of logistics, by all means, please share.

That's why you pull a baby boomer and make sure to screw the world as much as you can so when they try to adult you can be all like "It makes me really glad you can't feed your family the way you fed the enemy team."

Trolls ruining games? Zero repercussions as long as they don't use chat. Playing the game full-on teamwork, but trash talking? Banned because Riot's support team are incompetent.

Things that actually ruin the game that you CANNOT CONTROL will never get fixed under the current direction of inept tools like Lyte, but bad words will get 99.9999% of the focus.

Things EVERY PLAYER CAN CONTROL get 99.9999% of the focus.
