Saying Open Mid should be flagged as offensive language

This word tilts and destroys any and all team morale from the get go, I know that at one point Lyte said (even though he left) that certain words and phrases are unacceptable, well this is one of them. I just had a game where we went 0/3 in and then one of my teammates kept harassing us to open mid, rq, then lead to another person leaving the game and it became at the drop of the hat a 3 v 7.

People think that just because Koreans do it that it is ok, but it isn't, you are afking/intentionally throwing a game when you think it is lost (and it might not be) and you decimate any potential for a comeback because your teammates feel crummy and you make it harder to win for everyone. In their culture, a lot of them play in internet cafes and do that to "save time" that they are paying for, saving time or not, you are still trolling and throwing a game, it is not acceptable and the phrase alone shouldn't be allowed at all.

Yeah because letting people destroy team morale and make people want to leave the game is also great.

It can be reviewed and the system is always being updated, but this phrase is too toxic to be allowed in game.

It's not any more toxic than any other negative phrase. If you are significantly affected by the things people say, you should preemptively mute.

This phrase causes people to play worse after it being uttered and people rage quitting/fountain dancing, it doesn't matter how I feel personally when two of my teammates rage quit because one of them wanted to open mid.

Same thing can be said about anything in this game, it doesn't mean we allow people to say everything they want to say just because people can mute others ahead of time or after they say toxic phrases.

Actually, Riot does. The only things you get banned for one occasion are homophobia or racist slurs, and even that Riot is not consistent with. Wanting to surrender, throw the game, calling your team bad, trolling, etc ALL take multiple instances before you receive any kind of penalty. That is why I told you to mute. People will always troll you. All you can do is try not to let it affect you.

Well no. That's like saying we should all casually use f** in game, as we are all referencing bundles of sticks and not using it as a slur.

Usually it's used negatively.

No? Open mid is an established behavior in the game. Saying it is no different than saying trolling, and absolutely no one is suggesting we ban for saying that.

Open mid isn't usually used as established behavior, but just "Im done, give up, just let them push down mid and we should just AFK in base".

The usage of the word shouldn't be banned, but it should be punishable nonetheless.

Same thing with "ez" or "gg ez"

Immediate punishment with no regard for context? No thanks. Also there can be a rare game where all 5 players agree to open mid without any arguments, especially if they are premade and I see no problem with that.

Declaring open mid to enemy without having consent from all 5 members of team should be reportable and punishable but dealt with the same as hate speech is? No way.

It should be flagged and reviewed, most of the time this phrase is used is at the start of the game and no matter what all it does is make people play worse and consider ending the game earlier without trying to make a comeback, in some cases when the games are complete stomps sure, but most of the time this is used the minute there is any gold difference.

Especially when you have that /one guy/ that won't surrender and, of course, the intentional feeder or troll won't either, but the other three are held hostage.

"Open mid" is not, in itself, toxic. Sure, giving up first blood and then saying "Open Mid" is unsportsmanlike but some situations have context and this is one. It's never okay to use racial pejoratives, "hate speech", etc, but there are situations where "open mid" is appropriate.

I've seen people punished already for saying open mid.

It's typically under negative / unsportsmanlike behavior.

I think u are justified to feel that way, the comunity is like that, theres not much to change them all. sometimes is open mid somtimes trolls, sometimes bots, sometimes salty, sometimes offenders, and lastly sometimes really bad at playing people

well what if its like 12 to 1 and you have an afk and a troll? what if you're team agrees to open instead of sitting in that hellhole ruining your kda for 20 minutes? would you still get banned?
