Idea: Reporting for Poor Matchmaking

Now, obviously, no one's going to get punished for the system's poor matchmaking, but I think it would be neat if you could report someone in a much higher or lower elo than you so the system can realize it screwed up. Over time, it'll become more aware about what's "good" and "bad" matchmaking.

Could this be abused? Probably. But it could check the actual elos of the players involved, foiling spam-reporters. And as I mentioned earlier, no one will actually get banned for this. It'll just alert the system that the player shouldn't be matched against/with people of higher or lower skill levels.

I know a game that uses this, and the game itself has relatively good matchmaking (it's Battlerite if anyone cares). So, maybe it would work out?

To reiterate: no one would get punished if they were reported under this category.

That actually used to be thing.. there was a report option for low skill that didn't involve punishing anyone, but I believe it was used to gather extra data for calibrating the matchmaking system.

It would be a useless metric, players rarely understand the difference between skill, champion experience, and luck.

All it would do would be punish the people who one-trick or goof around.

What the old "Unskilled" report did was help Riot tweak their system. If some one was consistently being reported as unskilled, they would take a look at the player's games and, if necessary , manually adjust their placement.

As people played, the system had more data available for better matchmaking algorhythms.

I remember there was also a lot of confusion about the unskilled report. Since it was listed next to verbal abuse, griefing, etc., a lot of people had the mistaken belief that players could get banned for not playing at an expected skill level. So, that was also a major factor in removing Unskilled from the report options.

Well, it would help with my current rash of uncarryable games. I haven't been dominating mid today, but in 3 of my last 4 games , bot lane seems to be down by double digits before I can do anything about it. Why are you punishing me, Riot?
