Off Meta Picks and Some Observations
So I decided to play an off meta support in Silver Elo for awhile and I am going to post my match history, findings, and personal observations with it. The champion I played is support tank Evelynn with my build varying but my core items are: abyssal, armor boots, protobelt, and deadmans. I also pick targons as a starting item. So lets begin.

As you can see from my match history I have 7 wins, 4 losses, and 1 remake. This post isn't about how well or how poorly I did but rather the attitudes I saw while in champ select and while in-game. The attitudes I witnessed will be below:
- Toxicity in team chat (champ select). For example, "wtf eve support" or "eve is shit don't play her" or they ban me out.
- The adherence to the "meta" of the game and people being confused as not just my pick but other picks.
- In-game I found that on one occasion my adc rage quit (d/c AFK) after dying in bot lane a few times. This was my fault for missing some skill shots don't get me wrong but that's something I noticed.
- In-game chat can vary from being extremely toxic and hurtful to "good job eve" or in one of my games my adc said "we owe this win to eve." Not everything I found was bad or horrible.
There were more attitudes that I witnessed but those above were the most important. My point with this post is to show the community and anybody who is reading this that off-meta picks or strange picks may or may not have people "rage" at you. I believe that the current meta and how people see it contributes to the overall negative attitudes right now. HOWEVER! This doesn't mean that if they are mean you should be mean back. I actually stopped typing negative comments in response to people a few games ago. I realized that it doesn't help me or them.
tl;dr - Off meta picks and strange picks in meta roles may cause your team to be upset at you b/c of lack of adherence to the meta. tl;dr.2 - Don't be mean to those who are mean to you with an off meta pick. Play it cool and enjoy yourself. Just remember that it's a game and people will be upset. Just play what role you queued as and go for it!
