Low Priority Queue

So, this is a pretty heated topic. Why low priority queue? Because you leave or afk during games a lot. Life happens, riot understands, but what if life happens often?

I'm a player who has never rage quit a game, I've also played through over** 130** low priority queues._ (I sent a support ticket to riot a couple months ago and got that number)_ That means that over 3 and a half years, I've wasted 43 hours sitting in a low priority queue.

So there's a few reasons why this happens to me personally.

  1. I live in a household with a family, and families do things.
  2. If I start up a game, and then within 5 minutes of queuing up, my father comes home and needs help emptying the truck of some furniture, or groceries, or whatever. I can't wait 40 minutes for a league game to finish and then help him.
  3. Sometimes my internet can be buggy.

Then Riot invented the remake function, I was really happy! Finally all of these times where I'm screwed out of a game right as it starts I can avoid ruining peoples games, awesome._ But, the punishments are still there._ The same punishments as before. Whether I leave a game just as it starts, or 30 minutes in, I am still given the same queue which I find to be unfair.

In my personal opinion, I believe that if a game is remade, the person who left the game should not receive a punishment. But what about the time wasted? 5 minutes for a game to start is too long for some people who can only play a few games? Yes, you wasted 5 minutes of someone else's time, but why is it that wasting 5 minutes of their time, means that I lose an hour and 40 minutes?

The low priority queue is too powerful, if I had the choice to never leave a game, I would, I tilt during games, but I never surrender and I finish every game I start unless circumstances happen where I can't. All of this time that's gone virtually nowhere is incredibly tilting.

** I have some alternative options that may never happen, but here's my ideas.**

Dodging punishments: You get a border in pregame that shows you have recently dodged a game (that way people know.) As well as the current 3 LP loss.

Leaverbuster if the game was remade: A 5-minute waiting queue 20 times, rather than a 20-minute queue 5 times. You have the same punishment as a normal leave, except it means that you can play another game, say if you have to work in an hour and 10 or whatever, you can still play a game because the wait is 5 minutes.

Leaverbuster in the case it ruined a game: Keep the same punishment as there is now.

Hopefully, this would be a more fair system. As there are different contexts to every leave, and some mean a lot more than others do.

Well, that's my time, what do you think?

If someone leaves a game should they be punished just as severely as it is now even if you get a remake? Or is the system unfair and there should be changes?

Well first of all, if you don't have reliable internet then League of Legends probably isn't the game for you. I'd recommend trying to get that resolved. Second of all, with regards to family, you can try preempting issues. "Hey Mom/Dad I'm about to queue up for a game that takes about 40 minutes. Do you need anything from me before I get started? Most parents wouldn't interrupt you after they've already told you that you're free to play.

All of that is for your benefit though. To everyone else, your reason for leaving doesn't matter. What matters is that even if you leave 2 minutes into a game, that's 5 minutes of game time, 2 minutes of loading screen, 5 minutes of champ select, and 3 minutes of queue time for each of 9 players. That's 2 hours and 15 minutes of other people's time that you've effectively wasted.

Yes. The person should be punished just as severely even if the game is remade.

Remakes waste at least 10 minutes of people's time. 9 people lost 10 minutes of their time. 2-4 minutes to queue, 3 minutes in game, 3-4 in champion select, any number of minutes in loading... 90+ minutes of human-time wasted because you queued when you weren't reliably certain you could finish the match. It certainly isn't a cruel punishment to waste 100 minutes of your time (5 games of 20 minute LPQ) when you wasted the same amount of others' time.

If you have personal issues that prevent you from being reliably certain you can spend 70-80 minutes on a game (10-20 in pre-game and 60 in the game itself), don't queue up for a game. You either need to have a conversation with your family to enable them to understand that you won't always be able to help them at a moment's notice, or you need to limit the time you play League to when you're reliably certain you won't have to leave.

When I have an hour to spare to whe up with my duo before we have work and we get that one person that afks and causes a remake we r pissed cause then we can t play because we only have 30 ish min left. Between finding a match, champ select, and actually loading in it wastes time to remake so I am happy the oh ishments are there. If you can't manage an hour of free play then maybe you have some obligations that are more important than a game. If you know someone might need help ask then you know u can have a free hour to spare otherwise gtfo waste of que time

Is what some kid told me when I made a post just like urs sorry bud the community is polar opposite and you just gotta ride it out

You guys write this like I haven't tried asking my family to let me know. They don't care, and they never will. I've been playing for 3 years and you act like I haven't asked them to give me notice. This post wasn't just a rant, I honestly think that leaver buster is too strong. Your comments are appreciated, but insignificant. I understand that it wastes time for people, but the fact is, that you could say the same for them. If they only have 1 hour, don't queue up, it a remake means they can't play a game, then they didn't have enough time for a game in the first place.

Why should somebody be punished for a remake? It makes no sense in my opinion. Most of these people think they are entitled to time when really if you have an hour left why go on a league game? There are rare cases where league games go over 1 hour. If you say that a person should get a penalty for "wasting other peoples time" than what about riots cases of bug splats?
