Why is Perma banning a thing

This has to be the most irrational consequence for toxicity. Especially for the MOST PLAYED GAME IN THE WORLD the process towards a perma ban seems far too gun-ho. Its like riot enjoys taking people's hard worked on accounts and all the money they spent on skins and essentially stealing it because someone was "toxic". When in reality a game that very much relies on the other 4 people you're playing with to do well, there is a clear inherent toxicity that would arise if mistakes are made. I feel its only human nature.

Why is there no permanent MUTE if some one is just sooooo toxic. Banning them doesn't do anything except breed hatred toward the company and make that person either stop playing the game, or make another account and be even more toxic. I understand PB's are issued with the intent that the person either quits the game, or makes another account to play with the intentions that he isn't toxic because he is afraid of getting banned again, however due to the leveling system i personally just think it condenses the amount of toxicity to players leveling from 1-30. I have never experienced more extreme toxicity than when i am leveling a new account. If someone clearly has the tendency to type very negative things into chat, how would a perma MUTE not be as effective as a BAN. I would be very happy with being perma muted for my toxicity and still be able to play on my account that iv had for years and understand that i can no longer type due to my toxicity when TYPING IN THE GAME.

However a permanent ban seems like a punishment you should only give to someone who was perhaps botting, account sharing, scripting or some other offence relating to cheating, not toxicity. Overall i feel the punishment for a being toxic in a video game such as league of legends just isn't fair to the players, despite how toxic, they're players too and they spent their hard earned money and time on the game because they love the game. Please, Riot, if people are toxic why not just take away the ability to type from these .00006% of players, instead of taking their hard earned money and time they put into YOUR game.

TLDR; Why not just perma mute players instead of banning them forever. Especially when they will just make a new account and bring their toxicity to new players. Its like breeding toxicity within new players by putting them with toxic players who make new accounts. Right?

Why not just perma mute players instead of banning them forever.

They tried this already. It turns out that the types of people that behave poorly enough in chat to be perma-muted often just turn to a different outlet for their poor behavior, like trolling.

And trolling is much harder to detect and catch. So it's better to just remove the player once they show that they have no honest intention of behaving.

From Riot Tantram:

It really breaks down into two categories.

1.) Helping players reform 2.) Shielding others from the behavior, at a cost.

We used to issue chat restrictions that essentially scaled indefinitely.

We were able to determine that after a certain point the penalty no longer helped with reform. The 10-game and 25-game counts for chat restrictions are based on data that they were both light enough, and felt strict enough to encourage people to understand their behavior is unacceptable in game and change it.

We also saw that the players in this 'large restriction' category defaulted to gameplay altering means of harassing their team. It caused an increase in feeding and trolling.

The sample size of this population and time frame is huge. Essentially the time spanning from the introduction of chat restrictions to the introduction of IFS.

So my question for you is, would you rather have more feeders and less negative chat?

If someone isn't gonna interact with others in a mature and respectful manner despite getting multiple chances to do so then why shouldn't they be removed from the community?

I would be very happy with being perma muted for my toxicity

Punishment isnt there to make you happy.

Tldr, esp with that wall of text.

But to respond to your topic, if someone got permabanned, it means that Riot doesn't want them in the game, regardless of how much money they spent.

Riot used to have near permanent chat bans; people would often turn to gameplay toxicity when they couldn't flame.

They tried infinitly scaling mutes, but all it did was make people turn to inting and troll building

Plus its not theft, you agreed they dont owe you anything if they banned your account.

To keep sportsman like players away from people who are feeding, inting, trolling and being toxic in general.

It SHOULD be a thing and i'm glad it is, even if it doesn't feel that effective sometimes.

I know someone who got banned for toxicity, and he actually spent over 3k$ on his account.
