PSA: Riot Punishes After Only One Game of Bad Behavior

Many sources on the Boards state that Riot only deals out behavioral punishments due to TRENDS of bad behavior.

This is not true. On each of my accounts, I received a (one) chat restriction for shitty chat behavior in ONE game only. Reform cards only show one game (the obvious game in question), Player Support ignores "were there other games that contributed to this punishment?" to provide recommendations on how to reform, etc.

I'm not here to defend my in-game behavior that I got punished for, nor am I begging for a reconsideration on the punishment. I'm just clarifying some misinformation that's been circulated for a long time.

You do not need to exhibit a trend of bad behavior to receive a punishment. It takes only one game.

For a chat restriction, it is possible to receive it after only one game, but the most common situation by far is 3+ games. It depends on the severity and quantity of the poor behavior as to how much leeway the system gives for "it was just a bad game".

You are punished based on the severity of the game(s). Kinda like any other system of rules/laws and punishments. Not sure why people act so surprised.

In general, a trend is required to receive a punishment.

In specific, it is possible to be escalated directly from no punishments all the way to a permanent ban, based on the severity of the chatlog.

Damn, you'd think there would be a lot less toxicity if they instapunished for only one game. How have I not gotten punished yet? I must be a God damn saint I guess.

I don't feel like I've ever said "It only takes 1" or "it always takes a trend." Sorry if I've ever given that idea to you. Players can be punished for 1 to 5 games, although I feel the average is 3, especially if that player hasn't used hate speech or kys, and hasn't intentionally fed.

Chat logs.

Just because only one game is shown doesn't mean only one game went into punishing you.

You claim that you didn't use hate speech in the game yet refuse to provide logs.

Its takes way more than just one game unless you are using any of the "zero tolerance" stuff. Just because the reform card fucked up and only showed one game (which isn't exactly a rare occurrence) doesn't mean that game alone lead to the punishment.

Same. I wrote a ticket and they explained to me that it's a bot that does the banning job. For example, if I became super toxic in a game and no one report me, I would not get banned. And the bot basically counts the words and stuff and rank them based on how bad it is. For me, I flame a toxic kid and we both report each other and both get banned :))
