Computer Technician Helping the Enemy Team

Hey everyone.

So I've been fixing Windows computers since I was four years old (I'm 28 now, yes I know I'm an old gamer) and I work as a computer technician for half the year full time and construction / maintenance for half the year full time.

There have been many times where I've been able to talk my allies through fixing their Windows problems in-game.

But my question is if I see the enemy complaining about computer problems in /all, would it be considered assisting the enemy team if I talk the enemy players through a fix over the /all chat in-game? My thinking is: we're all players just trying to enjoy the game.

You mean like if they are complaining about lag so you give them some troubleshooting steps to fix it? No, "Assisting Enemy Team" would be something like telling them where your allies are and what their CD's are at.

If someone reports you for 'assisting the enemy team' because you tried to give them tech help, then that person needs better morals.

You're fine, assisting the enemy team refers to things like telling them where your allies are or explicitly helping them with in game actions.

I think "Assisting Enemy Team" is defined as giving them information that they otherwise would not have, or feeding them on purpose (even feeding them jungle camps for instance). Since your intention is not to put your team at a disadvantage, I would say you should be fine. You're not giving the enemy team anything in game that they shouldn't have already.

Technically if I DON'T say anything and let the enemy player suffer, then MY team could easily win a 4 v 5. But that's just not right by me.

Actually here's a follow-up question: what about ranked? I forgot to clarify that I only really play normal games. If I were in a ranked game and the enemy complained in /all about tech. issues should I intervene? I would argue that they should have made sure their machine works in the first place before starting a ranked game. But then again, for me personally, I think its not right to sit by when I could help someone and I don't.

I don't think tech advise would be frowned upon and or reported.

What I would do personally is either help them out during game however it would hinder yourself during the game due to typing or add them after and try and help them.
