Does reporting people ACTUALLY do anything?

Ever since the tribunal went out, I've seen the number of toxic and troll players jump dramatically. It hardly feels like reporting does anything especially when the enemy team won't report a toxic player because it allowed them to win. The only thing I've ever seen someone get in trouble for is when leaverbuster finds afks.

Look at the player behavior and moderation section. It works.

it's useless!

I've gotten the "A person you reported got punished" message twice.

So even though it is rare, yes, reporting people does sometimes, rarely, have effects.

It does. The tribunal isn't the best, but it does get rid of toxic players.

I've gotten 2 messages saying I've gotten a person I reported punished, but you only get that message if you are the report that gets them punished. I wish you'd get a message for every time a player you've reported gets punished, and idk if adding that person's name would or would not be appropriate (so i'd know which person I reported got the ban/suspension hammer) but just messaging every time a toxic person you've reported is banned or suspended would make people feel like the Tribunal is actually working better

It definitely is discouraging however since your report "effectiveness" is diminished each time you report someone.

People keep asking that question. "Does reporting do anything?" If all the "Why was I banned?" posts don't answer that question, I don't know what else to say.

I also keep wondering why people say it is the Tribunal that's issuing out punishments. The Tribunal is not active and hasn't been for some time.

No it only gets toxic players ban it doesn't care about trolls

what riot SHOULD do is bring back the tribunal, and do it how CSGO does it where you cant be a toxic player and you also get your correct and incorrect verdicts tracked, with an occasional fake trial of an innocent player to make sure that your not just auto banning them, and if you are you either lose tribunal privileges OR your verdict doesn't count for much.

Notice how no Riot employee has not intervened in this discussion thread....

Reporting people is futile. I have reported someone who literally threatened to kill people on his team and nothing was ever done about it. Riot adds the feature to make you believe that you are accomplishing something. They allow cyber bullying as much as schools and social media.

makes it easier for riot to arbitrarily ban ppl who dont spend enough $

Makior722/8/2016, 10:03:17 PM1 votes

It works. If you need evidence of it just look at this board. Half the people in player behavior and moderation are making qq threads about "wahhh i called me team mate an autistic butt fucking %%%got who needs to kill himself on national television while jacking off into a tube sock! Cant he take a joke? I mean there is a mute button"

Your report value is only diminished if it is a false report. If You report someone and you don't get the pop-up saying they are punished doesn't mean that your report has less value or is lessened.

Report what you really feel is necessary and your "effectiveness" won't diminish !!

nerak232/8/2016, 10:29:13 PM1 votes

If someone is not punished after engaging in unacceptable behavior and being justly reported then the report has failed.

Wait what are you saying ?? Are you saying if you report someone and you don't get a pop-up your report now holds less weight ??

Sorry, No that is Not how it works...I may be misunderstanding so I am asking you to explain if you can. :)

Be aware everyone though, if you report someone for something against the TOS regardless of whether or not they are punished, if you report something that is against the rules It Does Not count against Your report strength..Just to be clear here !

nerak232/8/2016, 11:06:31 PM1 votes

How does the system then determine what is and what isn't a "false report"? Assuming the whole system is run by computer, a report that doesn't result or contribute to a ban would be determined as a "false report"?

I can't and don't know how to explain this and I hope someone else can but they have systems set up that can detect this...

Understand, that some people want other players to believe that when they hit that report button and you don't get a pop-up that x person is punished that it counts against your report weight. This is Not true.

Fact is this is something I'd like more information on, but one thing I can guarantee you is if you report for a legit reason your report value increases Not decreases as some would like players to believe.

Thanks for all the info guys!

Also, it's good to see a good active discussion going on as opposed to the thread quickly descending to shitposts with just a small bit of actual information. [slayer-pantheon-thumbs]
