So, we get a warning about reports. Can we please have one that does the reverse too? :D

Hello NA Boards =) I was asked by my fellow posters to copy my thread from the EUW boards here, and would like to know your opinions. Here it is:

What I mean by this in a nutshell:

Whenever you report someone, the system checks the validity of the report, right? Well then: If the system determines the report to be invalid, show a message!

Could read something like this:

Hello. You just reported a fellow summoner for no valid reason. As a result, the value of your future reports has been lowered. We, as a community, despise such behavior, and would ask you to not do so again in the future. False reports are damaging to the community, and toxic behavior themselves. We still invite you to report actual toxic behavior, but be advised that continued abuse of the report function can result in action being taken against your account.

And then display this message like the low priority queue for 1 minute. No longer, just 1 minute, where the guy can do NOTHING in his client but stare at it.

You would be amazed how:

  • The number of false reports will go down
  • Report threats ingame will go down
  • Tension will be much lower

Have a nice day.

Sometimes a report is valid even if the system can't determine why. Reports are there to establish a pattern of behavior with a player. If a player is getting reported constantly for something but the system isn't seeing what's going on, Riot will investigate it. This helps to reduce people getting away with behavior that is obviously toxic to a person but is done in a way that the automated system can't tell.

Basically, telling you a report was invalid because the system didn't find anything doesn't mean you did nothing wrong or the report can't hurt you. People get investigated for trying to circumvent the system and instantly banned for it all the time.

I don't really see an issue with false reports. The playing falsely reported doesn't get punished and if a player consistently reports people for no valid reason their reports are valued lower.

This message is really unnecessary. Discouraging people to report others is really not the way to go.

This will also give extremely valuable insight into just how well the system is doing it's job. For example, you report someone you know it toxic/have screenshots of and the system tells you you're false reporting him. Or someone is intentionally feeding by doing while being nuance about it and the system says you false reported for intentional feeding (i'm talking the people who tower dive doing dmg but still tower diving alone into 5 people pretending they are just bad)

That requires work on riots part.. which they are too lazy to do :D

Anyway, I second this. There's been too many false reports against me that I've stopped caring about the warnings that Do pop up.

No. This is another instance where human intervention is required. The automated system is not always right.
