Bans for people being assholes

I dont understand banning people for being a dick to others...

i never quit games i try to be positive and i always play it out

However some days people get the best of me. i dont feel that its fair to ban my acc under any circumstances other than cheating. Im sorry i hurt their feelings. but just mute me permanently dont take away someone who has put literally years into your game for being mean to people. im not banned i just dont like the idea that my freedom of speech can get an account ive put everything i have into banned forever.

i hope u dont see this as "rage", ive felt your "Tribunal system" has been flawed from the beginning i understand you are trying to make a better community and i applaud you for that. however banning someone from the game after they have funneled you money just for being mean is a little absurd.

Anyone else feel this way?

Do you walk up to people in real life and tell them they are a fucking noob? Call them ugly?

Doubt it. The only time you are aggressive is behind that keyboard.

However just like in the real world, being a dick to people will end badly for you in LoL.

Banning people for using intolerant slurs, or who swear and attack their team, is perfectly fine, in my opinion.

i never use slurs. not a fan of that myself. attacking someones person is different than attacking their gameplay.

Your not banned for other people behavior. You are banned for your own behavior.

If you cannot control your self maybe you should not play.

Also freedom of speech doesn't apply to private property or forums. It only applies to public forums and gov't limiting your speech.

They have a mute button. and the ability to mute you, Its overkill to perma ban someone for being upsetting. and lets be honest you dont even have to be that mean to anyone to get them to report your anymore. People have begun to use the tribunal as a threat instead of what it actually is. A Way to change the community's behavior.

A mute button doesn't excuse your bad behavior. Just because I don't have to see it again doesn't mean you don't deserve your punishment.

I don't take offense to any of it. However if you are toxic I will report you to help prevent damage you might cause to other people.

Perma bans are for people who are either excessively toxic or have proven they have a consistent behavior of being toxic and refuse to reform. You don't get perma banned form being mildly toxic once. You get perma banned because your choose to continue a behavior not considered acceptable to the community. Or you are so toxic that Chernobyl is considered healthy in comparison.

My point is this is over used and people need to learn to just mute people and call it good. thats all i do if your being a dick. I wont report unless you are purposefully fucking the game up.

They only ban people that are toxic 90%+ of their games. Normal players don't get bans.

some games im good some games im not, but i just dont feel that any point its right to ban anyone for being mean -.- its just ridiculous in my eyes.

I don't think that paying money for a game purchases you the right to be an asshole to others without consequences.

Is banning too extreme a punishment? Yes, it is an extreme punishment (on that we can agree), but I definitely think there is a place for it. Players are given the opportunity to reform their behavior. Players receive warnings and chat restrictions and if they demonstrate they they can't or won't reform their behavior, then they receive bans. If players still don't see a problem with their behavior, it is often because they have a different conception of socially acceptable behavior. For these players, it seems "normal" to act the way they do socially in an online game and this is why they don't understand why they are banned. In other words, these players see LoL as a place where it should be socially acceptable to be mean.

The reason they are banned is that their behavior is socially harmful to others who play the game. If you think it is a monetary issue, then you can just imagine how players get upset that they are paying for a game to have fun, but instead they get verbally abused. Is this ridiculous?

no not at all i just think a perma account ban for being mean is over kill. Why not just perma mute?
