So I can't even play with my friends in the new competitive mode now?

I'm honor level 1. You must be honor level 2 to play in the competitve mode. I accepted that I wouldn't receive any borders or wards because of my dishonourable behavior - but now I don't even get to play with my own friends? How is this going to encourage positive behavior?

Honor sucks. I'm so tired of having to be nice to people who are assholes. I'm so tired of being afraid of trashtalking my opponents because I risk getting reported. That's one of the most fun parts of any competitve game! And if people don't want to be part of it they can always mute me. As I said, I accepted that I would not receive end of season rewards in exchange for getting to play the game with the attitude that I want, that seemed fair. But now I can't play with my own damn friends?

This is no longer about rewarding positive players, this is actively making the game a worse experience for those who don't follow the lead. This is not going to encourage a positive attitude in us that you see as "problem players" riot, this is just gonna make us lose patience with your system.

If you can't behave, I personally don't want you to play League at all. Good manners are not a question of personal preference. So I'm glad to hear Riot excluded you.

Well first of all, if my behavior is not up to your standards then you can just choose to mute me. Secondly, you get reported for anything in League. There is a difference between actively harassing someone and trashtalking an opponent - you will get reported for harassing either way. I like to trashtalk when I play, it makes the competitive side of the game more fun for me. If people don't want in on it they can mute me very easily and I would not have a problem with that. Players report me for this, I lose honor levels.

Besides, in this mode my friends have already decided that I'm honorable enough to play with lol. They don't need Riot to make that decision for them.

It's not about your behavior not being up to any given player's standards - it's about your behavior not being up to Riot's standards. While competitive BM'ing is allowed, trash-talking isn't. Trash talking is just plain spiteful, negative, and nobody wants to deal with it.

The difference between competitive BM and trash-talking is that the former is biting, but still light-hearted - a playful jab to aggravate opponents without just plain harassing them - while the latter is blatant harassment and negativity with no other purpose than to spew hate at your opponent.

Calling someone "trash" or "garbage" or "shit", or bringing up Rank as a way to shame someone is trash talking.

Getting called bad after killing someone and responding with something like "if I'm bad, what does that make you?" - that's competitive BM.

And, more importantly, there's something else that needs to be addressed; competitive BM can cross over into the realm of trash talk. If all you do is throw out quips about how the enemy team sucks or how you just wrecked them, then, guess what - you're now trash-talking. Moderation is necessary.

Throwing out a small, biting remark to highlight a play or a win every now and again is one thing, but doing it every other minute is just plain bad sportsmanship.

I like to trashtalk when I play, it makes the competitive side of the game more fun for me.

Again; trash talk is not welcome. Even competitive BM'ing is moderately frowned upon, since it can very easily devolve into trash-talk. And nobody likes trash talk.

And, one of the rules of League of Legends is: "Enjoy yourself, but not at anyone's expense". So, if the community says trash-talking isn't allowed, and trash-talking is something that you enjoy...Well, you have to find something else.

If people don't want in on it they can mute me very easily and I would not have a problem with that.

And people would still ultimately have a problem with you for spouting negativity regardless of if they muted you or not. Hence;

Pardon, did your friends make League of Legends? Did they set all the rules up? No? Then it's not their place to decide if you're honorable enough for competitive tournaments.

This is Riot's game, and it's their decision that players below Honor Level 2 don't get to play in Tournament mode. Your friends have no say in that.

So, what? If you're not doing anything punishable (which is why what's allowed and disallowed matter, by the way), then their reports mean jack shit.

And, clearly, if you got punished for competitive BM, it was too frequent to be acceptable.

I can assume you can still play Co-op Vs. AI, Customs, Normals, Ranked, and RGM queues, yes? If so, then you're not being excluded from the community. You're just excluded from Competitive Tournaments.

Well, if excessive trash-talking is the only way you can unwind, then you really need to redefine who you are.

The muting feature is no excuse for bad behavioir. Imagine you were in a noble restaurant, suddenly dropping your pants - and when people complain, you just tell them "why don't you just close your eyes". I think you need to learn that the world does not center around you. You either adjust your behaviour to meet the social standards, or your behaviour won't be socially accepted (in case of LoL defined by the Summoner's Code) and reported.

I have not heard anything about this. Considering Riot is against a Prisoner's Island mode, this may just be for the testing phase.

OP is in EUNE, which is one of the reigons where Clash is being tested. So he's probably talking from experience when trying it out.

Yeah I saw the info about it - I meant I haven't heard about a honor requirement for the system when it's released. I suspect there may be a requirement during testing to ensure the testing environment isn't ruined by the negativity.

You can't play the new competitive tournament mode without being honorable. I think it's stupid as hell, especially because a lot of the "dishonorable" players I know aren't even toxic - they just have a rougher attitude and like to trashtalk their opponents (but not in a harassful way). Problem is that you get reported by players for just doing that too.

Why would I even need to be honorable to play with my own friends? They've already decided themselves that I'm honorable enough to play with them lol, they don't need Riot to make that decision for them.

Listen, mom, if there was a restaurant that didn't allow smokers, you wouldn't be allowed to smoke in it, weather you go in there alone or with a friend. This is the same way, smoking hurts you and those around you, and so does "trash talk" now you can call people softies all you want, but the fact is, you are hurting people's feelings. Riot doesn't want you to do that, so instead of kicking you out of the restaurant right away, they give you a chance to stop smoking.

Now onto my quit smoking tips: 1- take it slow and smoke less cigarettes a day- Just kidding. Actual 1- You can curse and trash talk people irl instead of typing it in chat, that way you get it outta your system and you're allowed to play the game. 2- If your toxicity is mostly reactionary (mine was), start using /mute all at the start of each game. I know it feels bad, but trust me, not only will you stop being toxic, but you'll have peace of mind. 3- You have to realize that it doesn't matter, people wont do what you want regardless of weather or not you told them to. You just have no power over them.

I enjoy playing the game while being myself. I don't want to force myself to be someone I'm not when I'm just trying to unwind in front of the computer. If people have a problem with me, then that's THEIR problem and their easy fix is the mute button. The game becomes a lot more fun for me when me and an opponent are actively trashtalking each other and trying to make each other tilt, it just makes the competitve experience more fun. But from the other players we just hear "report them for being toxic"... JUST. MUTE. US.

If Riot has decided that players like me don't deserve to enjoy a feature with their friends, fine. It's their game. I'm still not going to change how I play it until I get permabanned, and honestly being excluded like this just makes me lose patience with the game because it's obvious I'm not a welcome part of the community, not to Riot and not to other smug forum posters (I don't mean you). Expect me to be more negative out of things like this, not less.

... well, you aren't a welcomed member of the community. That's why the systems slowly weeding you out. Honestly, Riot's finding more and more ways to prevent people with your mentality (Almost every prize is hidden behind honor now).

You may prefer to act like that, but you can't just ignore the terms of services and hope to have the same rights as everyone else. Worst part is that your 100% aware it's eventually going to get you perma-banned.

its not riot that chose that you do not deserve access. Its the fact that EVERY gaming mag site or expert calls the league community the most TOXIC community because of people liek you. the MUTE button isnt a solve all its a fix for the person. you being toxic hits everyone. your team doesnt want to hear it and your enemy doesnt want to hear it. its riots game you have absolutely NO RIGHT to play. its a choice you make and theres rules YOU have to follow. You arent gonna go rob a store and say "Oh hey my friends said it was cool" or "hey officers if this guy doesnt like getting robbed he shouldnt have a convenience store"

If you are an ass the community and the higher ups will remove you from events in the future. And just an FYI riot doesnt care about the opinions of the toxic. All honor will be reset to lvl2 at the beginning of season 8. You won't be able to play in the beta testing but you will be able to play after the mode is released early 2018. (if you don't fall to lvl 1/0 for a month)
