While the Force may be about to awaken, a lot of the Boards population would like to experience it spoiler-free. So until Monday we'll be treating spoilers as the path to the dark side. Spoilers lead to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads to suffering as we're forced to remove angry posts about spoilers.

So instead of punishing people who are upset about spoilers, we'll be removing the spoilers themselves ~~ with friendly warnings on first offenses because we know Sith happens.~~ Size matters not; even small spoilers will go. After that, We will demonstrate the full power of this battle station on anyone posting spoilers. To be clear, your account will be permanently suspended from the Boards. You get the idea.

So until Monday you must unlearn what you have learned and help us keep the Boards spoiler-free. While we'll be removing spoilers faster than Han shot Greedo, some may slip through our defense perimeter. Simply report them and we'll strike them down.

Thanks in advance for your help and may the Force be with you, always.

**Update: ** We will not be giving out warnings if you post spoilers. Any purposeful spoilers will be removed with a permanent suspension of your Boards account.

**Update 2: ** Spoilers are now allowed, but please refrain from posting the spoiler in the title and place a [spoiler] tag in the title of your post, then discuss away inside the post. This allows those that still haven't had a chance to see it a way to avoid the discussion.

We'll continue to remove spoilers posted in any other fashion, though we'll do it with a warning and a request to use a [spoiler] tag.

Holy Molly you guys are taking this serious. However I do have concerns about other spoilers. Are you going to do this for all new movies? I mean why no do this about other anticipated moves, for me I personally can't wait to see Deadpool. Does that mean spoilers will be punished for that as well?

Edit: I mean I'm glad you guys are doing this, I'm just genuinely curious.

I'm sorry, but I find it extremely excessive to permanently suspend accounts from the boards for posting spoilers. It's just a movie, and you're only enforcing this through Monday. At worst, the punishment should just be a temporary suspension until Tuesday, in order to prevent these people from continuing to post spoilers during what you yourself have defined as the blackout period.

The only thing I have to say about the movie is: GO FUCKING WATCH IT! OMG they did it right like I won't talk about the plot but J.J Abrams did the Star Wars Franchise such justice I'm gonna go watch it a third time Christmas Eve it's that good. Please watch it!

Thank you. I can't make the premier, and plan to stay off Facebook for awhile for that exact reason.

This is Grade A psychological proof of how society runs on social media and trending nowadays. 90% of the people who see Star Wars don't legitimately care anymore about the movie anymore than Snakes on a Plane. There's actually only a small minority of hardcore Star Wars fans, which you can find in anything pretty much.

It's funny how there's serious consequences for something that is irrelevant, and in reality doesn't matter.

If someone spoiled a movie for me I really wanted to see, I'd be like "oh man why did you tell me" but would that provoke any legitimate anger? No it's just a god damn movie, it doesn't matter I'll watch it anyways.

Star Wars is about as big as a social media phenomenon as Keeping up with the Kardasians is. It's a fictional movie, and they will be immediately forgotten after the 1 year fad of people pretending they care or are hardcore fans.

Sadly I won't be able to see the film till Monday, guess I'll be spending the entire weekend internet free and muting all players.

We have a review/discussion thread about how spoilers will be handled going forward over here. Closing this discussion so we can get all feedback in the other discussions.
