Do you think talking a lot affects the game?

I'm not sure if this affects anyone else, but if you've ever had an extremely talkative team that doesn't say anything useful, you end up losing? Useful as in "place a ward here, make an item, they're here, etc." I don't mean trash talking or being toxic to anyone, but more like encouragement.

Not that I hate encouragement, but throw away the encouragement and communicate normally. I don't mind the occasional "nice" or "gj," but really social and talkative players (from my experience), tend to lose.

I'll say a few words at the beginning where the action hasn't begun, but I feel having a teammate talk every minute actually lessens the chance of winning.

The other team will be whatever the hell they want to be.

very mixed opinion on this. i myself tend to chat a lot, i try to be friendly and lighten the mood up a bit. some people react to it by also being friendly, others tell me to shut up cause im annoying them.

depending on the person and the sort of chat, it can be good or bad.

Yeah it negatively impacts your performance for sure. You may have more fun doing it of course, but its objectively distracting you from the game itself. I notice it in SC2 a lot. Ill just be in a talkative mood and suddenly realize im behind on my build order and i have a couple extra hundred minerals than i usually would because I'm moving slower from typing. Little different from League, but its the same concept. Youre no longer thinking ahead and predicting/planning.

time spent talking = time not playing, unless you're moving ofc
