This has been one of the worst seasons for player attitude.
I've just had back-to-back free losses during my placements for solo queue. I was playing flex queue fairly heavily because I have a 5 man group I enjoy playing with. I cannot believe the difference in playing attitude though when I try to play flex queue by myself. I am constantly faced with teammates who die a couple of times, tilt, and simply refuse to play with anyone after that. They refuse to come to team fights and only want to farm while no-voting for the next 35 minutes so gobs of extra time is wasted. I just got out of a game in solo queue where the support decided to playing roaming Fiddle. He botched everyone's lane and died 11 or 12 times and is the reason we lost the game. And we're not talking about the depths here, these are playing who placed gold or maybe plat during the previous season.
I feel like the player base to gets tilted so very easily and then completely commits themselves to tilting the rest of the team. So odd because most of these games have been close and winnable games. They just refuse to listen or cooperate with the rest of the team. What's up with the community? I've had games with a poison-pill player before, everyone has, but this season it's been so consistent to have a player very, very determined to to ruin the experience for the rest of their team in just about every game. Why? I've been playing for close to seven years now and I usually find a way to have fun, but this is the first season where I started playing and immediately feel worse after every game. It's even affected my life where I don't feel like going to the gym as much or I'll join my friends and they'll ask me what's wrong. It's a scary epiphany to realize my negative League experiences are affecting the rest of my life.
Anyway, the player base is becoming just so truly awful. We all watch competitive streams and spout some of their "just say gg and move on" mantras, when we're in a good mood, but after a difficult first five minutes, I find a lot of those same people having this melt down.
I don't want to quit. I want to keep playing and I want the game to be fun again. To facilitate that I challenge people to try and calm down a bit, freely mute guys who rub you the wrong way instead of continuing to monitor their bad mouthing of you, and to surrender games that are clear losses (20-3 in the first ten minutes). I promise spreading a bad attitude will not make you feel better in the long run nor will subjecting yourself to it longer by spiting your team (and more importantly yourself) with a "no" vote.
