I'm confused. How is this toxic. I got a 25 game chat restriction for responding to my teammates who were calling me retarded, boosted, mentally challenged, fucking garbage, bad, telling me to stfu whenever I responded to there flame and somehow they can report me and get me punished. 90% of what I typed in this chat was in response to them flaming me and I didn't even curse once. The worse thing I typed was idiot and that was in response to being called retarded. Other then that I was simply replying to there comments explaining my reasoning for why I was losing lane and was actually being positive saying it doesn't matter how many times Olaf goes top Aatrox won't be able to carry and I will out scale him. Somehow this is toxic and I deserve to be chat restricted when everything they were typing was 2x worse. A reply to what I did wrong and how I could improve it would be very much appreciated.

Yes you called someone an idiot, and yes that's bad. But I think most of your chat is centered around arguing with your jungler about whether or not to gank top or camp top. We'll all differ about strategy from time to time. Sometimes we'll agree. This would be one of those times that didn't happen. You and your jungler probably hadn't played that many games, but our individual experiences and knowledge of the game dictates how we strategize. This guy might have come off his 10th game in a row where Aatrox carried the game, whereas you could have had a similar, but opposite occurrence. At any rate, the arguing was futile, which at some point you must have noticed, yet you continued anyway. That, I feel is more likely what led to your chat restriction.

In summary, don't insult, argue less, and if you differ in strategy, suggest (as you had) alternatives, but let it go if they're just not willing to listen to you.

My problem wasn't the jungle. I had a Malzahar jungle who was getting equally flamed. The problem was the support, mid, and adc on our team who didn't understand why going top lane was a waste of time and would rather be toxic then listen to what I was trying to say. I understand people could have been in previous matches where they lost because of a similar situation but that has nothing to do with me getting chat restricted for arguing with teammates. Especially if the arguing on my side wasn't toxic and was more of me throwing out explanations and constructive criticism. If want to win I'm going to try and convince my teammates on what we should be doing and what were doing wrong. I shouldn't just say well we don't agree in strategy so I'm just gonna ignore them and do my own thing. In a TEAM GAME especially in higher elos that doesn't work. What you are trying to suggest to me make an improvements on wouldn't really be resolving my problems I would just be ignoring them.

I just assumed it was the jungle. Seemed like a logical fit for who you were talking to.

I get that you were talking strategy, but there was a point where you must have realized they weren't going to listen to you and further arguing wasn't helping the situation. Them being toxic was bad, but continuing to beat a dead horse was not helping the situation.

I'm with OP on this one. His team mates were idiots. If the jungler is camping top, they would have been better off taking shit elsewhere on the map. I think he should have just afked instead of arguing. I get morons like that all the time and they never understand their own stupidity so no sense in trying to explain anything.

I don't understand why me calling someone an idiot once deserves a 25 game chat restriction. Besides that my teammates didn't even report me because they felt I was being toxic to them. They reported me because they genuinely believed I was trolling. I went 5/8/7 and had 19k gold which was the most in the entire match. I had the least deaths on our team. But to them I was the reason we were losing which is why they reported me.

Riot EULA claims you need to be at least 13 to play this game, should I start reporting everyone who says they are younger than that? Does that sound fair? on a side not, if a 13 year can't handle being called an idiot they shouldn't be playing a competitive game. This system is broken, those who report should also have there comments up for discussion. The fact that you can be ganged up on and others get to walk free even when you did the least amount of bad behavior is an inherently broken system. As well as the fact that it depends on whos viewing the case and how there feeling that day.

The IFS doesn't even look at specific words and phrases like calling somebody an idiot. He got banned because his entire chat log was deemed toxic, not for calling somebody an idiot. Coming into these boards to find the one example of explicit toxicity in somebody's chat log to justify the ban is not helping anybody.

HENCE WHY THE REPORT SYSTEM IS INHERENTLY BROKEN! how can you say "punishment you deserve" when they were obviously worse?! Your the kind of person who reports everyone for dropping a swear word when RIOT implemented a mute tool. And the sad thing is players like you do it to make THEMSELVES feel better. Its not about bettering the community at all, its about getting back at someone because they hurt your feelers. USE THE MUTE BUTTON. Reports should be saved for people who deserve it (intention feeding, trolling, taking lanes ect) NOT for frivolous things like his comments. Go see a therapist if you need a self esteem boost, don't ruin someones account and waste a bunch of money that they have spent (that riot will WRONGFULLY NOT REFUND IF YOUR ACCOUNT GETS BANNED) because you can't handle some "adult talk". This ban was ABSOLUTELY not justified and it is extremely frustrating to see people go through situations like this. The report system is BROKEN. FACT. And its because riot allows snowflakes to gang up and report for either no reason, or minor reasons that should frankly, not be reportable. Where the people who actually deserve it get to walk free. Still not true and never will be. You bought the rp, you used the rp, transaction completed. You are being loaned unlimited use of THEIR product, on the condition that you adhere to their rules and regulations. You break that contract, they have the right to forfeit your use of their product with nothing owed to you.

That's like buying a burger, eating it, and then turning around and saying a year later, when you get banned from the resturant because you caused trouble, that you want all the money back that you spent eating there.

That's also not true, other online games have banned players for language and other issues they have caused. You're acting like League is the only one ever in the history of online gaming to do that. The difference is if the person violates the rules in a way that can be caught.

Besides, OP isn't banned, he's chat restricted for 25 games. So he isn't losing anything other than the ability to type in chat.

I swear I see the same argument on every thread in this board regarding this topic. Here is my answer to that.

The system is basically a zero tolerance policy system with regards to everything except player history. It does not take into account individual culpability or the circumstances. "Zero-tolerance policies forbid persons in positions of authority from exercising discretion or changing punishments to fit the circumstances subjectively; they are required to impose a pre-determined punishment regardless of individual culpability, extenuating circumstances, or history."

Zero tolerance policies always lead to the same thing. Anybody who is actually affected by the policy and sees any type of consequence because of it will find it unfair. All those that are not affected by it will claim that it is indeed fair. It is this discrepancy that creates all the friction between the supposed toxic players and non toxic players in this board.

This type of policy is not even proven to be effective, for example here is a study of its effect in schools with regards to bullying. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19086747

In short, just because his immediate response to people flaming him was to respond to them does not mean he is equally guilty from a moral standpoint. It just means he is equally guilty in the eyes of the zero-tolerance policy Riot has in place. Your moral high-ground is an illusion. I think that if you find toxicity offensive, as many others do, you can sympathize with a person who also found it offensive even if his immediate response to flame was to respond to the flamers.

Honestly I've had games where people have raged quit and just straight up ruined games over dumb stuff like someone taking there champ, And that was when I was in diamond. The worse they get is a leaver buster. I get into an argument in chat which I personally don't think had a major affect on the outcome of the match and I get chat restricted. I honestly doubt a rioter is going to see this and give me a valid explanation for why I got chat restricted and tell me what I can do to improve my attitude.

The system is screwed, and they don't do anything about it. They let an automated system bust out the ban-hammer on everyone instead of actually looking at the chats and taking the context into account. I miss the good old days of the tribunal where the community could be the judge of the cases x.x Just goes to show that being money-hungry can lead to shitting on the community :P

Same thing just happened to me, people hard flaming me and reporting me after the game. I think the only explicitly negative thing I said was "you are bad", similar to your calling somebody an idiot. What i did do was use chat a lot, much like yourself. Apparently their justification is that if you are not using chat to be positive, you deserve your ban. Yes, I am going to be overtly kind to the people literally calling me human trash, makes a lot of sense.

As of right now many people are getting banned simply for using chat a lot in games and not being some sort of machine that spits out positive chat. You don't even have to be actually negative in your chat to get banned at this point, apparently just not being positive is enough even if the other people on your team are actually flaming you.
