Why do I deserve to get told to kill myself...

...just because I play with friends?

Anecdote: While playing last night with two friends, in a normal game, we encountered a solo Rengar who just leaned into everyone all game. Rage every two seconds. You know the type. Of course, it didn't take him long to figure out that we were a trio, and that's when it really escalated. Fast forward through homophobic/racial slurs, and lots of allchat rage, we get through the game. This guy adds me as a friend (of course I accepted just to see what he had to say) with the sole purpose of telling me and my two friends to drink bleach every morning.

Now, I'm really not upset that this was said to me. It happens all the time. But it does sadden me that people are this way. Moreover, it shows me what all the Dynamic Queue hate has done to the game. Toxicity has always been a part of the game. But now, the community has given itself a reason to be terrible, because it's a witch-hunt to find the social players. Even in normals, where we're supposed to play with friends.

Can we stop pretending that this season's system just magically created more toxicity? Or that people with friends are the biggest offenders? Because this happens a lot, and having a sad excuse for your toxicity doesn't make it okay.

Its true. All of this toxicity has existed since way before Dynamic Queue. People are just using it as their newest scapegoat for why they do it. Feels bad man.

Guy sounds like he's a jerk. But why not just mute him? I honestly go from raging to complete calm 2 mins after I've muted everyone. When you don't have jerks throwing bad information at you every 10 seconds, you do a lot better.

Was playing norms with my best friend last night and had someone tell me to kill myself for playing Malzahar.

Granted, it didn't really bother me (as I don't exactly have the best opinion of a good chunk of this community anyway), but it's still was a "really dude?" moment.

I mean seriously, if a Zed is going to counterpick himself into me, then yes: I'm gonna get fed. No need to be an asshole about it.

The point is, that people will find reasons to be angry and belittle you. It doesn't matter if you're a solo player, group player, bronze 5 or plat one. If they're "that guy," they'll find something. And it sucks when they do.

But in the end, it's all we can do to raise our head, mute-and-report, and then move on with our lives, hoping that good old Karma catches up with them later.

You don't. Mute and report.

Maybe because you're bad and he was trying to practice for ranked? If I was trying to practice something and you fed because "Kek, its normals, just a game bro chill" I'd be pretty agitated, especially if you're a toxic premade that wont vote yes.

This is the internet, everyone gets told to end their suffering FeelsBadMan

When they start raging, u can feel them to start playing badly even if u mute them. Its just a general rules that people cant handle the pressure and emotion in strategic games

I am also offended by their use of "kill yourself", the correct LoL term is "Boosted animal".

Or at least streamers would have us believe.

with the sole purpose of telling me and my two friends to drink bleach every morning.

Ok I have to admit that was pretty funny.

But seriously, why would you add that guy? that doesn't even make sense.... didn't you learn stranger danger when were you like ... 3? you're an adult, act like it. If you add someone and you don't like them, remove them from your list and move on.

Actually these last few weeks I felt an escalation of toxicity. I play mainly ARAM, so doubt it's related with the new system.

I would attribute the fault to the school vacation period, kids with more free time and such.

I don't get how butt hurt people get over what other people(whom you will never meet) type on a screen. Who cares? Did his typing actually cause someone to kill themselves? No??? Then fuck it! Just ignore him.

Must be a Millennial thing, where you expect "safe spaces" everywhere.

Solo players don't like getting matched up with a dynamic queue group that is bad. It's a problem with dynamic.

The fact that you went ahead to make this post and let his behavior affect you when the game is already over and you don't ever have to see him again means that he won and you lost.

Why are you giving his actions this power over you? Just mute him.
