Muting pings

One of my biggest pet peeves with the current system is that there is no way to mute the pings of a particular player. There is no reason whatsoever that anyone should have to choose between two options: (a) enduring unnecessary, often intentionally harassing pings or (b) turning down the volume for pings across the board.

If one person is spamming pings, never mind punishing them after the game (which should definitely still happen). Spamming pings can

  1. cause people to lag**,
  2. give people headaches, and
  3. just generally demoralize or tilt players, even if they are not lagging or getting headaches.

There exists a chat mute button for each individual player because toxic chat messages should be blocked. There should also exist a ping mute button for each individual player because toxic pinging should also be blocked. Period.

** Maybe I'm mistaken on this one, but that in no way invalidates the other points. Even if in-game pings do not affect loading ping, people will still spam pings when you already are lagging, which will only make your frustration even worse (see 2 and 3).

If Riot refuses to mute pings, I think they need to at least alter the amount of pings you can use. There is no GOOD reason to ping "missing" 6+ times and then it has a very brief cooldown before you can do it again.

if they limited it to 3 pings with like a 15-20 second cooldown, I think it would help a lot.

I think this should happen! I have experienced many players who will spam pings once they realize you have muted them in chat - because it's just another way they can annoy you and you can't do anything about it! Many players will sit behind turret and spam pings to annoy their team and there's no reason we shouldn't be able to choose to mute their pings as well as chat.

you're other 2 points are the same thing, and both are fixed by muting pings

They need to ban for muting all pings and chat though because then you aren't communicating with your team. However, being spammed with yellow pings by someone who has done nothing but feed their ass off the entire game who wants to take our their frustration on me does get annoying.

You won't get a response to this. Riot is too busy banning people who get mad at ping spam. They don't have time to look at the underlying problem of being provoked by trolls/spammers.
