How to Improve The Honor System?
I'd like to hear some different ideas. I believe the honor system at this game is not highlighted enough. It is a reward for making the community less toxic. It should be front and center. Players should really want to accumulate honor.
I have a couple of easy ideas that require just a bit of effort and will really help encourage honor without turning it into some kind of point gaming system.
Idea #1: Honor in death. Players with high honor get a funeral and honorable rest on the fields when they die. Players with no honor die in, well, less respectful ways. Perhaps some vultures or undead feasting on their corpse. Honorable players can choose their death animation depending on which of the four honor categories is their highest. Teamwork players get a military-style funeral. Helpful players have an angelic being come down and scoop them up. Friendly players get lots of flowers left at their grave. Honorable opponents get a statue in their honor.
Idea #2: Show the average honor a person gets per game they have played. Right now the flat numbers do not really reflect a player's honor. Putting the honor number as a fraction above the games they have played would give people a clearer idea of what kind of player they are when it comes to honor.
Lots of people talk down about the League community claiming it is one of the most toxic ever. It's probably close to true. The nature of the game brings the worst out in some people. But there are the free to play soldiers here bringing honor to this game. People who support even though they gain no advantage in the game. People who love to remind other people that it is a FREE GAME and to STOP COMPLAINING and enjoy it.
