"Missing pings"

Time and time again I have seen people using the "missing enemy" ping to question a teammate's decision. Can we like maybe chill on that? I've found myself just zoning out when I hear it or see it because countless times it's used to harass teammates instead of notifying someone is not in sight. I know I'm not the only one who has disregarded the ping because you thought it was the toxic guy harassing people again. Had a game the other day I pinged missing top lane and my kid laner almost died and he said in chat "sorry thought it was our troll bot lane again pinging". So league community, calm down.

Yeah it's not that it offends me, it's just pointless and hurts the integrity of the missing ping that is supposed to be helpful.

I use it to highlight my own misplays =P

But yeah, not only a dick move, but it undermines effective communication within the team. People need to stop doing it.

I myself usually ping mute someone if they miss use the mia ping. It helps me to filter out the useless pings so I don't need to always take the time to question if every ping is intended to be helpful or not. I usually let people know if I mute their pings too in hopes that they will miss use it less in the future and to remind my team that they can do the same.

Almost every time someone ping spams it significantly affects my game, even if I'm not the one they're targeting their ping abuse on. So it's annoying on the forums people act like ping spamming is not a big deal. I mean it's not that different then if some player just showed up and started yelling shit, covering the screen with his hands, and banging pans in my face while I'm trying to play. Many people also use ping spams to try to blame their deaths or bad plays on you, like "If I just ping him '?' 20 times everyone will see it's his fault I died, not my own"

It's distracting as hell, it means whoever is ping spamming is trying to say you're a bad player, and it is adding more clutter to the screen that makes playing just more difficult overall. When you know you have a ping spammer too there's always that feeling if I'm slightly out of position this kid's going to freak out and start slamming his keyboard again.

It's definitely demotivating as well because who wants to try to win with this f*** on your team? This is one of the worst trends I've seen in a game to ever exist, but I don't see it going away anytime soon.

I find it entertaining when someone on my team pings a really dumb move by an enemy with a "?". For example, when the enemy player fail flashes or ults the wrong direction or something. Especially if we're in a 5 man. A couple of us ping MIAs on the enemy after they die from a dumb mistake and we all laugh.

I never ever ping MIAs on a teammates dead body unless like I said, we're a 5 man party. It's only for banter and never to piss each other off.

Completely agree with the abuse of the MIA ping being something that needs addressing. MIA spam and "GG Ez" are the two most toxic behaviors in this game imo. I never give people the satisfaction of letting them know it in chat, but these things tilt me immensely. Muting pings works, but it sucks that its the only defense against it, because that player might actually make some useful pings later in the game that I will end up wishing I had seen...

Leave the MIA ping in game, just change the icon from being a "?" to something else

give the player the option to filter what pings they want to see would be my opinion, but that might make it harder for high elo players with mediocre map awareness who get offended by pings. This is a complicated matter.

As long as it messes anything up in some way they're gonna keep doing it; it is apart of being a troll.
