"Linking Kotaku" Can Blizzard or Riot ban you for this as well?

Either is fine.

Wolfess6/3/2016, 10:08:57 AM6 votes

overwatch is pay to play League is completely free

since people pay to play overwatch, blizz takes this VERY seriously since it has to ensure fairness for all the people playing the game that are playing fairly without cheating. there are obvious ways to get around that blizz permaban, but the drawback is that it CAN/WILL cost you to get around it which most will prefer to avoid and just skip overwatch altogether.

Riot is free to play with their income being from players purchasing RP. they DO try to keep cheaters and rule breakers out, though being that they rely mostly on their shop for income, they allow offenders to return since it can be potential income for them hoping that the offender learned their lesson and stop being a jerk.

I don't think it's fair to compare both just because the games are a similar genre. Blizz has been around for a good number of years and have solid foundation and income from multiple games. they can afford to permaban people like that, whereas riot has been around for what 6-7 years now which is still relatively fresh and only has one game out so far from where their income flows in and it's from a completely free to play game at that where the majority of their cash-currency is used to buy cosmetic items that have no actual gameplay effects and are only visual (with the potential exception being rune pages and runes, however those can still be acquired using in-game currency, IP, by everyone for free)

Riot has a zero tolerance policy on cheating too ( I believe, they just have to detect it. Their system for cheat detection is probably worse than Blizz's. I know their bot detection is definitely bad).

On toxicity, I'd say Riot is a bit more lenient, which can be good or bad; Let some small bits of toxicity slip, or punish the innocent?

How often do you actually see cheaters in League?

To make it funnier an average online game in China requires you to login with... your irl ID.

Troll Armada6/3/2016, 4:45:49 AM3 votes

Bye Felicia!

lol. that's hilarious.

fortunately for cheaters Riot doesn't have the inclination nor the balls to do this.

you are more likely to be asked to become a riot employee than you are to be banned for cheating.

Damn! Blizzard is putting it's foot down!

Demacry6/3/2016, 3:53:16 AM2 votes

The only difference being that Bnet has had anti-cheating software that Blizz has been working on for almost 30 years. Riot has had Lyte's science project direction and anti-toxicity software for 3 years and not a day goes by that someone isn't questionably punished. Riot doesn't have to security of being one of greatest modern publishers to just start cutting off large portions of their player base. They have 1 lightning-in-a-bottle game and years poor customer relations.

Pandemic Punch6/3/2016, 10:01:17 PM2 votes

This is odd as most threads I see around here are complaining about Riot being too strict.

stealthfox946/3/2016, 5:41:58 AM2 votes

Yeah I find it funny how Tyler 1 said he would stream Overwatch. Wonder how fast he'll get banned.

EvilDustMan6/3/2016, 7:49:47 AM2 votes

They already have feeder buster and cheater detectors, I don't understand what you are trying to get at.

Cheat once? Banned. Buy an new account/game? Ban transfers. Cheat in China? Your username is also released.

Your move, Riot.

But there is a huge difference between Blizzards MMO Moba vs League..

1.) Toxic players get banned by Blizzard, or Restricted from chat in both MOBA Fast if reported.

. However you can Quit The Game without any penalty if players are going to be retards, or idiots, in League OF Legends you can't do this, therefore making League OF legends more toxic.

2.) Blizzard Bans Hackers Fast which is great compared to "Black Desert" with rampant client side hackers ruining the game and a dev team who does nothing about it.

3.) The difference that makes League Toxic...

. You are forced to play with stupid players, you can't leave when you feel someone is a retard it creates a negative experience. . Both Games Blizzard & LOL Don't have any team play unless you Queue with 5 friends.

The only difference is you aren't forced to stay in the game when playing Hots, or Overwatch you can drop out any time really no penalty which keeps toxicity at a minimum.

Example of what I am talking about I just did like first game in a week or two and I had a player pinging the map like an idiot in my game really screwing me over early I just had to mute everyone, and turn off my sound to even focus on the game it was awful. (one thing over-watch doesn't have.)

rito: " Cheats what cheats? There are nothings like scripters and botters in this game. It is all your imagination!"

Sythriel Draken6/3/2016, 9:10:24 AM1 votes

the difference is, blizzard actually acts on it immediately and rewards those players who were the victim of these cheats. They don't wait and do it in waves, they do it the moment that the cheat is found and that you are using it. Riot just shrugs and says "oh well" when a cheater is caught and punished. Blizzard rewards lost matches or compensation for it, and I know because I was rewarded in heroes of the storm because a cheater who had impacted my high ranked game was caught and punished.. it was a little bit of gold, but it was enough that I didn't feel like they didn't care.

Right now, even if they go through a ban wave, riot doesn't even reward those that reported even with ip, their free currency.. I mean, they have a match log for a god damn reason and yet, they don't feel the need to go back and look at the initial report and then reward those players from that report on for what that person's action had caused..

The moment riot pulls their head outta their asses and implements a system for this is the day I will start spending money again. They can't focus on just punishing "naughty chat" and "unsportsmanlike conduct (a joke of a report)" and almost ignore cheating, and intentional feeding like they are doing now.. hell, they dodge those types of questions about cheaters and feeders in all these Q and A's they've been having.. but hey, we know they've put their money grabbing chroma skins on hold! (like anyone really cared)

TheRealBaz6/3/2016, 9:45:18 AM1 votes

meanwhile if you cheat here riot will let you play again and for free

Dukues6/3/2016, 2:10:22 PM1 votes

haha damn and I thought the Overwatch threads were people just bitching about hackers. Looks like people have actually been hacking. Good screw hackers! Fun game, I still enjoy league more (since no ranked in Overwatch but is DQ really considered ranked?). I guess once competitive play is released in Overwatch in July I might be making a permanent switch. Only time will tell.

Dominick Destine6/3/2016, 10:22:58 PM1 votes

That's a great advertisement for Overwatch.

I'm tempted to do the switch... but I am holding out some hope that Riot will reflect on their horrendous error..... I am really hoping they do. Like REALLY hoping they do.... and bring back solo queue, like they should have done from the beginning.

Firu6/4/2016, 1:26:52 PM1 votes

You do realize Riot also bans people who cheat.....?

EpsteinDidntKHS6/5/2016, 2:45:09 PM1 votes

How to stop toxicity, and make trolling easier to detect. If you say anything toxic, you get teleported under the enemies fountain turret 10 times (they don't get gold, you respawn instantly), so it ruins your KDA so you shut the hell up about how your ADC is 1/3, cause now your 2/12
