I've come to terms with Riot's URF verdict

When talking about whether or not to bring back regular draft URF, Riot came out with numbers showing that URF actually causes players to play less or completely stop playing League for a period of time. While I thought that was crazy considering the silliness and fun of the game mode, I can say that after the last two weeks of URF that I can completely understand how that happens. To be clear, I do not play URF to win games. I could care less about victories, I play for the silliness of the mechanics and crafting fun combos with friends to make the game mode fun. And while I was able to do that with silly things like Yuumi, Yummi/Mundo combo, Rumble ultimate spam and more, in the end having to consistently play against frustrating things (mostly assassins) made the experience pretty terrible and would consistently just make me get off of League entirely in favor of other activities. So I guess I'll just stick to solo queue from now on.

In the end, I'm thankful to Riot for giving us this experience one last time, even if it didn't quite live up to my memories of the original mode. Happy ten-year anniversary League of Legends, I'm looking forward to what comes in the next decade!

Personally, I wish they'd leave URF up forever. Even if only as a custom game mode and make it so you don't gain any exp/chests/key fragments/anything. The problem with a "fun" game mode like URF is that Riot only lists it up for a limited time. You make it limited, people want to enjoy it as much as possible before it goes back into the vault for who knows how long and as such, they burn themselves out on League and take a break. You make it a permanent feature, and it'll be popular for a bit, but if you "nerf" it right (take away exp, chest drops, everything) and it'll die off in popularity for most people, but it'll still keep a small following. Then, Riot could keep players like me (whatever that small percentage may be) engaged in the game, thus making a bigger audience.

I've played League of Legends off and on since 2011. I can't say I've enjoyed it much in the past 4 years though, it's lost a lot of its charm for me and I personally just don't care for their new champions and how they've treated their older champions (I miss pre-rework Sona/Soraka/Karma very much). However, whenever URF mode is up, I always try to get back in for it. I love how it's completely fast paced fun. It allows you to go with some really crazy builds that may not work in the normal mode. Even when the other team is hella stacked against me, it's fun. The only time it isn't fun is when there's a D/C on my team.

Hell, I'd be fine if they made ARURF a permanent fixture instead of regular URF. That at least adds more variety in game, even if it sucks getting a champion you don't personally play/that sucks in general in URF.

I'm to busy practicing for the next season to play such a mode. Only played it like twice with friends, I dare not touch it solo

The ranked experience made me quit, but because I played URF a few times I guarantee it's going to be added in as one of their statistics.

I usually play one, maybe two games of URF and go back to the regular queues.

I played a couple games for memories sake but yes, it didn't live up to the memories of the OG Urf and it wouldn't survive long as an actual game mode before ending up like ARAM or more likely TT.

While it was a fun lark and I hope they bring it back every once in a blue moon, I think ARURF is better on the whole. I certainly put a lot more games in when ARURF was up for Lunar Revel than I did this time around with URF, even though I had the ability to pick my champion. When URF was last up, people weren't nearly as focused on winning for winning's sake, so you didn't have to worry about everyone following a tier list on some random site to find the most cancerous builds possible for the mode. Times have changed, and the mode will never be the same again.

The first 2-3 days of URF were fun. Then it was THE MOD where all the toxic were for a while. Insults on every game, absolutely every game. Trash teams only here to win asap. More tryhard than real ranked ones. I had 2-3 games (again 2 or 3) where there was a Sion in front only focusing towers to get golds with tower shields, suiciding himself 20 times and ultying to destroy inhibs all the time. I even thought it was a fucking bot, but when i fell against another Sion like that, yeah i've understood it's still full of fucking despicable noobs.
