Little to No Community Improvement in 4 Years
Greeting League of Legends players and Riot Staffers!
My purpose for writing this is out of concern for a game that I occasionally have fun playing. The wide range of unique champions and play styles make each game new and challenging. Any game can go either way. This makes the game appealing, despite it's game length. I am writing this not to complain, but out of genuine concern for the progress (or lack thereof) the League of Legends community.
For roughly the last two years, the teams over at Riot has tried their best to reduce toxicity by way of language and verbal abuse via in-game chat. I understand why this is a concern and why there has been countless efforts to improve it. However, I feel even if the in-game chat was removed completely, there would still be an unbearable amount of player toxicity in a number of ways.
I will list a few and would like to know any readers opinions or experiences with these topics. My intent is not to offer solutions. My intent is to address my in-game experiences in hopes that others can either share their experiences, team up to combat the toxicity, or offer solutions to any of the presented concerns.

AFK'ers This is a common issue that has made a lot of progress. The Remake has helped disconnections and early game afkers. I'm just curious to if anything can be done about players who gave up in-game and start useless roaming the map?

Unskilled Players / No Accurate Gauge of Skill Level or Game Knowledge / Feeders This is one of my major concerns. Riot attempted to gauge a player's skill with a champion, but they have not yet established an accurate level of skill. For example, players who focus objectives, help in team fights, ping to communicate, farming/cs, and/or skillshot accuracy. It is currently Season 7 and I am still having to play Ranked games where we don't get a single tower. Instead of staying in lane and pushing/farming, players usually start going mid all game and forcing fights after their outer tower is destroyed. This shows either a lack of skill, lack of game knowledge, and/or lack of strategy. This ultimately leads to the feeling of...

Uneven Matchmaking Aside from tier differences, there is no accurate gauge for balancing games. Riot will still place you with poor or unskilled teams on losing streaks. Players in parties also can give the impression that the matchmaking is off. Playing with players who are duo/trios can often make me nervous in Champ Select because I don't know if these players are of similar skill, someone is getting carried or boosted, and/or if it is a group of unskilled players just hoping to finally get a win. If it is a group who is tilted, the game is almost a guaranteed loss.
When considering how long each game is, how little LP you gain, how much LP you lose, and the lack of reward for good teamplay is seemingly non-existent since it is a team game and individual actions matter and yet don't matter. I don't how all of the answers, but I am wise enough to realize that there are many concerns in this game that are no being addressed. I really hope the game makes progress so I can better gauge improvement. It's very frustrating trying to improve your play while players are feeding and/or your team can't make it out of early to mid game without being demolished or surrendering.
