Some players are so confusing...

Our jungler this game was pretty good. I was doing well, too. But she was just super toxic. I ignored it like I always do. But anyways, we get a chance to do Baron and we do it. I was dead at the time. 3 others on the enemy team were dead. But I guess they stole it because Evelynn didn't smite?

Now, this is what is so confusing. I just kind of laughed about it. I didn't flame or care, it happens. We mostly likely lost the game because of it. I said, "You know, you probably should have smited baron. lol"

I didn't swear or wasn't mad. I was mostly joking. (Obviously I forget about the fact people can't hear or sense sarcasm from the internet)

I remained positive. I said it's ok. We can still win this game, not a huge deal.

So Evelynn just beelines into the enemy team and then afks and starts flaming us from the fountain.

And we're all like why lol?

I was like whatever. I think Trist was kind of flaming her though. But that's a frustrating thing to happen. But still, I mean to just throw the game after one mistake. I mean it's a pretty bad mistake but I don't know. To just throw the game after when there was still a good chance of winning. It's a tad confusing. I didn't even report her. I mean, meh. I don't really care. Just another person on the internet. I sometimes wonder if she was just trolling and refused to smite it. Her smite wasn't on cd btw. I don't even know how they stole it the Jg was dead. But you know how it goes. Vayne was into her late game so we got eaten alive and lost. Only 20 LP lost. Not the end of the world.

BUT. This is what bugs me.

Why are people so incredibly prone to anger in our society? Honestly. Every game is like this. Every game you have to be careful what you do and say. You better play your best and kiss everyone's ass or else. The real war is against your own team. I feel like it's a pscyhological mine game and you have to really watch where you step. Like, just drop it and move on. I was focused on winning. I wanted to win. I don't care about the squabbles of bad plays going down. Just takes away from the focus of winning the game. But to just intentionally throw the game and say you don't care? What's the point of wasting everyone's time? Literally, wasted 33 minutes of my time just so you can... prove a point? And what point was that exactly?

Here's her in all her majesty (blurred out the names)

This is not intended as an attack against you. I get that you were mostly joking and that you didn't flame otherwise. Some people don't react well to criticism. But I try not to judge, because there's no way to know what was going on in Evelynn's life that day. Maybe something terrible was going on in their life, they wanted to play a game to distract themselves, and when they started getting criticism (joking or not), they just lost it. No way to know. And I am definitely NOT saying this sort of behavior is right. It's infuriating when someone on your team afks or otherwise throws the game.

But the reason some people get angry is probably very similar to the reason some people can't resist commenting (or joking, or flaming) when someone else makes a mistake. Honestly, I used to cringe in a game whenever someone on my team made a joke like the one you made. Because I have never, and I do mean never, seen the target of such a joke just laugh it off. They always either try to defend their mistake or outright start flaming in retaliation, and it goes downhill from there. A friend told me once that nothing positive ever comes out of typing in chat, and that it is used exclusively for negative behavior and then a "gg" at the end. I got tired of the constant arguing and decided to mute everyone every game, and I get a lot less tilted since I started doing it. I don't have to see my team arguing, flaming, criticizing and otherwise trolling each other every game. It's actually nice.

Our (American) society breeds people to think they are all special snowflakes, so if anything doesn't go our way, we get all uppity. America needs some humility and fast.

These days games are not decided by who is a better player, but by who tilts less really.
