Account Perm Banned?

Somebody had access to my account and bought RP using my card to gift to his account. I logged in about 15 hours ago and changed all my account details and banking details. I just tried to log in and was confronted with a " Your account has been permanently suspended" message. I was in contact with my bank earlier, and it appears that they refunded me the money that the hacker stole, but I guess since Riot didn't get their money they banned me? That doesn't seem right considering I wasn't the one making the purchase. Has anyone dealt with this before, and if so did you get your account back? And yes I have emailed riot support, just waiting for a response back.

Ah the old "someone hacked my account and used my credit card to buy RP then gifted the skins away" claim. A few things to note here.

  1. Never save your CC info into a platform like this. Riot stores your entire payment info so you only have to click 1 button to make a purchase, and if you've verified your email address you arent even prompted for the CVV code.
  2. The only way someone hacked your account was if you've clicked a phishing link OR if you shared the same password between your LoL account and another account on a different website that got hacked. That's why you shouldn't use the same password for things that have your banking details attached.
  3. In all honesty I doubt Riot will unban your account because there are a few things that they would have to be able to prove:

a. That your account was accessed from a different location than any one you have used before. (Easily provable) b. That the account(s) the skins were gifted to are somehow related to the person who stole your account. Meaning a guy isn't going to do all this and gift skins to randoms, hes going to do it to his friends or his accounts, riot can verify this by matching IP and email addresses and cross checking friends lists etc.. (This is hard to prove as it is time and resource consuming and thus Riot may not go this far) c. That your account was in fact compromised in some way, meaning you didn't just give a friend your password so he could do this and then you can claim chargebacks because you technically didn't make the purchase. (This is almost going to be impossible to prove)

So yea, account security is your job, not riots. They cant control what links you click or how easy your passwords are to get if you use the same one for everything. You got your money back so be lucky that the only thing that "hacker" got was your account banned.

Also, not saying you did/are, but it should be noted that making any charge then claiming you didn't to your financial institution is considered fraud and could result in you having your bank accounts closed or being sued if it turns out you intentionally did those things in an attempt to scam a merchant. Like I said, that's only if you did it intentionally and they can somehow prove it, but if you were legitimately hacked then you are fine.
