I love how you can be judged by a group of your peers...

A jury of your peers, "Trial by Jury," is a very involved and democratic process in the U.S. Some people absolutely hate participating, however, it is a principle of the 6th and 7th Amendments of the U.S. Constitution.

This is a protection that keeps the judiciary system fair and protect citizens of the United States from targeted government persecution. Political Science covers a lot about government and history that you can look into if you're interested.

The Tribunal in League of Legends keeps punishments fair. If you were being a general asshole, know that the community as a whole thinks you were an asshole, not just the reporting players.

The actual participation of the Tribunal has been long gone. Now, there's just general outlines that Riot tends to follow.

Firstly, the Tribunal hasn't been around for ages. The current method of review and punishment is the Instant Feedback System (IFS, for short), which is an automated system.

Second; I disagree that the Tribunal was the "dumbest" way to do things. It was horribly inefficient, don't get me wrong, but it was still a pretty valid way of doing things. In fact, even Riot saw the value of the Tribunal, since they - one - implemented and used it for a time, and - two - used data from the Tribunal to inform the IFS.

Lastly - at this point, being judged by your peers (which, I think it says "fellow players", not "peers", but I could be wrong) basically just means they reported you, and you were actually judged by the IFS. If you were punished, the IFS found your behavior to be against the rules.

The tribunal has been gone for ~3 years now (at least). The instant feedback system and the player behaviour staff at Riot handle account evaluation and player punishments now.

Really, you've seen how Riot disses out punishment since getting rid of the tribunal, and you think the tribunal is the worst way to do things? You do realize Riot purposely lets scripters go for months of scripting before they punish them. As slow as the tribunal was, at least it was faster than that.
