"Riot is a shitty company"

I swear 90% of what I read on these boards are people complaining about how Riot sucks and doesn't care about their player base. With the recent event of Tyler1 being banned, the hatred towards Riot is only getting worse. Do you hate Riot? Then stop playing the game they've created. I think Riot is a great company, always trying to improve/switch the game up, which I personally enjoy. Thanks Riot for giving us an extremely fun F2P game! [slayer-pantheon-thumbs]

Edit: Just a list of some recent things I am excited for/stoked about:

-New Champion releases (Jhin/Aurelion Sol/Taliyah) -Frequent Champion Updates (Poppy/Shen/Taric) -Amazing skins (Mecha Zero Sion/Armor of the Fifth Age Taric/Blood Moon Yasuo) -T2 rune price drops (most of us don't care but still a good thought lol) -New client coming with a visual upgrade as well as improved features -Rotating game modes (URF/One for All) -Mid Year Mage Update -Splash art updates (Evelynn/Warwick) -Hextech Crafting -Removing Sated Devourer

There's probably a few more things but I'm super stoked for the game in the near future! summoner 31

As a player who has:

  1. funneled alot of money into the game
  2. played since season 1 (december 2011)
  3. played ranked consistently through every season (started from bronze and peaked at diamond 2)
  4. helped grow several league sub-communities back when the league community was very small
  5. started a stream and free coaching devoted to helping the league community improve
  6. post on thousands of threads on reddit/ league boards / keague forums (that was the old name for the boards fyi)

I can safely say that I've contributed enough to this game and community to be allowed the right to voice my opinion when I see the game shifting in a direction I don't personally like. Will i still play it? Yes, of course. But you need to understand that every gaming community needs the good and the bad so the game can improve. If the game developers don't listen to their community, it creates this disconnect between them and players will begin to think that their opinion doesn't matter. Every person's opinion matters.

There's also the point of Riot isn't a democracy, like it or leave.

Riot isn't perfect and I try my best to give constructive feedback. I don't dislike Riot. I may not agree with all of their changes, but I love them. What I do indeed dislike, is almost every player that I encounter. They are all superficial ignorant immature narcissists.

"I hate Rito" Plays League

Correction: Riot is a fine company probably... they just make shitty things happen sometimes. Either through mistakes they've made, stubbornness on their own part to retract mistakes they've made or just intentional attempts to mess with the game.

People even complain about getting free skins or champions (hextech crafting).

Riot, as a company, isn't at all bad. How quickly they get things done, though, is abysmally slow.

Reworks and VUs takes years. Age-old ideas don't happen until years later. Something that can be fixed within weeks, takes months or even years to fix.

Though if there's a branch that never fails, then it would be the art/music team. Professional quality content for nearly free, most video game companies don't do that.

Being a member of the LoL community since 2009, the major mistakes Riot made were:

Selling out to TenCent Hiring Ghostcrawler Hiring/promoting Lyte Allowing Lyte to turn player reports into a form of harassment and toxic behavior Removal of Tribunal Reshuffling of priorities Abandoning schedules/deadlines/milestones in favor of popularity (with regards to reworks/updates, Yorick fixed when?) Forcing meta Punishing innovative strategies/mix ups Backstabbing the community on new skin prices and arbitrary price hikes Downsizing/removal of lore department and/or all community interactivity

It's like you go to high school with a group of friends, and stay friends for years. Then one of your buddies gets this new girlfriend who completely changes him. It's depressing to watch, destroys your relationship, and ultimately turns him into a shell of what he once was, only existing to serve her own needs.

That's what my relationship with Riot has been. For the first time in over 5 years I bought some RP just to do a name change and buy a different Olaf skin. Which I was also disappointed with.

I don't hate riot, i hate what they are turning into which is a company that constantly thinks they are always right about a given idea despite there being plenty of proof of that not being the case.

Companies i used to respect until they went full douche

  1. Gearbox
  2. Sega
  3. Ubisoft
  4. Square Enix/Montreal (ruined several series, thief, hitman by making it so the casuals could enjoy it n destroyed the spirit of the games )
  5. Jk rowlings ( ok so not a game company but she has given up on writing and is just doing cheap money grabs with movies! shame on her )

These companys used to be great before they lost touch with their fan base.

Companies that are currently borderline for me

  1. RIOT GAMES
  2. Blizzard-activision ( the blizzard portion is the only reason this is not in the douche category, they may often ignore fans but they actually correct their own mistakes most of the time )
  3. Valve ( half life 3 where?! )
  4. Bethesda ( this one saddens me but I am hopeful they will recover )

With the current situation of Dynamic que, how could you possibly say Riot is not a shitty company?

Meep Man5/2/2016, 12:39:53 PM1 votes

People say they hate Riot, hate the game, hate me, hate you, hate everything about it, but STILL if you look at their Match History, chances are they played a game of LoL in the past day.

all you have been listing is more and more probelms they adding and less and less time used to fix the existing probelm keep being blind

Fovere5/8/2016, 5:17:33 PM1 votes

TLDR: People who stick with a game for 6 years and are directly responsible for it's success should stfu when things get screwed up, especially on a forum that exists for League-related talk.

Papa Slothy5/12/2016, 6:09:49 AM1 votes

I think riot tries their best but sometimes the changes can seem like they have no idea what they are doing

RowanEnd5/1/2016, 9:42:49 PM1 votes

You can enjoy a game and dislike the company behind it. For instance, I really enjoy playing League when its balanced. but riot has been fucking up and now its not balanced, even though the game was fun in the past. I stick around in hope that they'll fix it.
