Riot loves toxic players and has there system set up to gain money off of them.

Edit: Removing all comments that do not stick on topic with my points I am trying to get across here. Going to ignore, report, and downvote all comments that are off topic or by people trying to provoke me or derail the comments.

Before you all start crying hear me out here and think about it. Each account that is made in league of legends only has so much money that can be spent on it for champs, rune pages, skins, etc. Each non toxic account eventually will reach that threshold of money that can be spent on the game and then that account is no longer profitable to riot. However, if someone toxic spends money on an account, gets it perma banned, and gets a new account. Bam fresh restart for riot to make money off of. Then if they get banned again??? More money income for riot.

Yesterday I talked to a blizzard GM in a live chat (I know you've never heard of a live chat before because if you seek support from riot the only option is email and they take 3+ days to respond) about how heroes of the storm works. This is gonna blow your mind right here guys. Blizzard does not permanently ban Heroes of the Storm accounts for being verbally abusive or toxic. Let me say that again. BLIZZARD DOES NOT permanently ban accounts for being verbally abusive or toxic. If you are verbally abusive or toxic in the games and a GM (not a robot or "tribunal") decides you are toxic. You get a CHAT BAN. Okay chat ban expires and you do it again, guess what happens? Chat ban again! and after that? Chat ban again! and after that? Chat ban... AGAIN!. Lets say you get 3,217 chat bans... Wanna know what happens next time you're toxic? CHAT BAN! Amazing concept isnt it? I then ask the GM, well what do you permanently ban accounts for? and this is what riot needs to really look at. They will only permanently ban accounts for Cheating/Hacking/Exploiting/Feeding.

Here is another thing this GM told me about Heroes of the Storm. There is an option in the game... to completely... disable your chat! Hold up there, in league you can mute your team and disable ALL CHAT. If you're toxic why don't you do that. The thing about being toxic is, someone doesn't have to talk to you in order for you to be verbally abusive or toxic. You don't need to be provoked by something in chat to be toxic. I know I can be verbally abusive. I know I'm toxic. Before I blow up on someone ALLOW ME TO DISABLE CHAT SO THAT NO MATTER HOW FUCKING PISSED OFF I GET I CAN NOT VERBALLY ABUSE SOMEONE.

Okay now at this point is where we are going to see the "If you disable chat you wont be able to communicate with your team and its going to contribute to losing games if people don't have chat enabled!" to which I respond: How is me muting my whole team and still having the option to be verbally abusive okay, but me disabling my own chat so I can't be verbally abusive and have my whole team muted not? Literally makes no sense whatsoever. "You can make it to where you can't see what your team is saying but you can talk aaaaaaaaaaall you want!"

If you still aren't happy with that how about this: Your disable chat option only prevents you from typing, but you can still see what your teammates are saying! Still have the mute option for if someone who doesnt have chat disabled is being toxic they can be muted, but you know youre toxic, and we are going to allow you to turn off your ability to type so you can prevent yourself from being toxic.

Just think about how much better league of legends would be for everyone, toxic players, and little frufru fairy princess crybaby players alike if us toxic players had the ability to SHUT OURSELVES UP and for those of us without the sense to do that on our own, you cry babies still had the option to shut us up yourself.

Which brings me to my last point. There is an option in the game for people to mute a player. The mute option makes it to where you can't see what a person is saying AFTER you mute that person. Whatever they say before you hit the mute button is visible but once you make that decision to mute them, you can no longer see ANYTHING they type unless you unmute them. With this option in game, WHY DOES RIOT PERMANENTLY BAN TOXIC PLAYERS FROM THE GAME? IF YOU DONT LIKE WHAT IM SAYING TO YOU OR SOMEONE ELSE MUTE ME. MUTE ME. MUTE ME. MUTE ME. Probably the last time you will ever play a game with me and if you do play a game with me again you already know "this dude is a dick, I'm gonna mute him right away" but what do 95% of players do when they encounter a toxic player . I can tell you that 1, they don't mute them. and 2, they usually go into all chat and say "report blah blah he said im a downsyndrome pussy and im too retarded to mute him so please report him" then go into team chat and say "youre toxic enjoy 9+ reports enjoy your ban". What does that do to a toxic player? Usually provokes them even more.

TL;DR @Riot. Only ban accounts for cheating/intent feeding/exploiting. Give us the option to turn off our ability to type or disable chat all together. You guys have a mute button in game, if someone is too stupid to use it when encountering toxic players well then they deserve to be verbally abused. Give back all the toxic player's accounts, or maybe implement a permanent CHAT BAN. This is 2016. If someone can't handle being called a dipshit for feeding bot lane then fuck em.

Now since I've already pissed off all of you little salty cry babies who think you are little angels on the rift... Tyler 1

Your entire premise that Riot is intentionally banning people just to gain money hinges on two things completely out of Riot's control.

  1. The player has to consistently be an asshole to get perma-banned in the first place
  2. The player stubbornly creates a new account after Riot shows them the door.

Riot already tried the indefinite chat bans. Players would just be dicks with what little chat they were allowed and never leave the chat ban. Or they would just be dicks in other ways.

No. The issue is some players refuse to be civil.

I imagine people who routinely get themselves banned know better than to buy more than one or two skins for their favorite champs, if that.

What would you propose Riot to do? Do you want someone literally able to be toxic and never get a permanent punishment for it? The point of a permaban is also to basically say "You spend 1k USD on this game? Well you broke our ToS, you lose that." I think that's a pretty good system. Most people don't make a new account because the amount of money they lost seems unfit to try and regain on a new account.

Not every game needs live chat to be efficient. Now, you see, I have played WoW games since early Burning Crusade, a pretty long time. I also play HoTS and Hearthstone. I've had to contact support plenty of times. Waiting for 5 hours on the phone for Blizzard to help you regain a hacked account is STUPID. Live chat also isn't as fast as it is. Everything has flaws.

Chat ban after chat ban or permaban someone and get rid of all their investments to get them to quit the game and stop being toxic...? I'd prefer the second IMO.

Here is another thing this GM told me about Heroes of the Storm. There is an option in the game... to completely... disable >your chat! Hold up there, in league you can mute your team and disable ALL CHAT. If you're toxic why >don't you do that. I know I >can be verbally abusive. I know I'm toxic. Before I blow up on someone ALLOW ME TO DISABLE CHAT SO THAT >NO MATTER HOW FUCKING PISSED OFF I GET I CAN NOT VERBALLY ABUSE SOMEONE.

You do realize if you're pissed enough you can literally go in the setting and re-enable chat right? A button at the toxic person's hands is always a bad idea, it's like saying "If you don't want me murdering someone, then add a safety mechanism to the gun!" but you want to kill someone, so you just turn it off.

The point is that you shouldn't be toxic at all. Even if you muted them.

Again, gun analogy. Also, seeing people talk etc might annoy a toxic person for not being 100% focused, they enable chat, flame, disable.

Just think about how much better league of legends would be for everyone, toxic players, and little frufru fairy princess crybaby players alike if us toxic players had the ability to SHUT OURSELVES UP and for those of us without the sense to do that on our own, you cry babies still had the option to shut us up yourself.

It really would be no difference.

What does that do to a toxic player? Usually provokes them even more.

Gonna use an analogy I posted previously:

A man rapes and murders a woman, her body is found on the sidewalk. You see the body and call the police, and once they get there they ease you away. Doesn't fix what you saw, but keeps you from seeing it possibly get worse/affect you even more.

Basically how toxicity is.

Having someone scream at you for giving first blood, cursing you out, being racist/homophobic/sexist, can really ruin someone's morale that game and put them on tilt. Muting them doesn't get rid of what was already said.

Yeah riot bans toxic players so they rebuild accounts and continue playing. Pretty sure this was old news when IWD got banned. Sad to see they've ramped up the bans tho or lowered the criteria to get banned. My favorite part on this topic is how they use the statistics for "toxic" players on loading screens etc.
