Ranked Match ups

Hey, sorry but I couldn't find better suited board so I am using this one. I am gold 4 and like in many other games, I was just matched up with an unranked miss fortune and a silver 2 jarvan... needless to say they both fed and raged resulting in our defeat. Especially miss fortune was being such a kid, speaking in caps and making fun of us.. anyway, my point is that 1) Riot should make a sustem where you cant have an enemy or an ally above or below your tier. So gold paired up with gold, silver with silver etc.. and 2) It's like Riot is testing us and even wanting us to just flip out one day and start flaming or go afk, getting us banned. I know that probably isn't the case but I can't help but feel it's really unfair that I always get a really bad team or a toxic one. Why am I playing with unranked players which are 3 tiers below me but not with lets say a platinum one thats just 1 tier above me. I am trying really hard to climb but for every normal or even good team there are 3 bad ones.. Also, after the game most of the players leave or forget to report so my 1 report wont do anything to them. I have even made the all - chat not show up to not get in the temptation to type.

Ignore the terms Gold, Silver and all of that. The behind the scenes numbers are what matters. If you're matched with someone in Silver 2, then your MMRs are nearly the same, either he's playing better than Silver 2 or you're playing worse than Gold 4.

Either way, you made it to Gold. Now is when you need to focus on improving yourself if you want to climb more, instead of focusing on others.

I'm Gold also, and you need to remember this to keep your ego in check - Gold is just the "best" of the mediocre players. We suck less than a lot of players, but we have a ton of shit to improve on.

I checked and ddidnt really understand some stuff but my mmr is 1224 and his is like 1186 , mine said slightly above gold 4 and his said aproximately gold 4... this was NOT the case, i guarantee you he was really REALLY bad ( and toxic) .

You can’t say what is or isn’t the case about anyone’s MMR because it’s not public. What you found is “guesstimates” from third parties that have nothing to do with the actual one.

Your sample size of one game in which they performed poorly is not a valid analysis of their skill.

Nah, those guesstimates are decent, although not exact, at determining what someone's MMR might be. These third party sites I would say are halfway decent at data analysis due to the enormousness of the sample data available.

Well, toxic has nothing to do with MMR, so that's beside the point. Being "bad" happens no matter how good you are. Remember - there are only what, 100 Challengers? Someone has to win and someone has to lose every game.

Your MMR being slightly above Gold 4 and his being approximately Gold 4 essentially means you're the "same" MMR. The system wants to put you where you "should" be, which means 50% win / 50% loss. If this dude you played against was on a winning streak (even just a few games), it's going to match him against "better" players to test whether he belongs at a higher rank. You may have just been in the game where people were above his skill level.

yeah thats probably what it was although even by one game you can understand how goood or bad a player is or if he is having a good game or not. Little things such as positioning and farming in general help distinct how good or bad someone is

Yes, but not with a sample size of one game. One game tells you what happened in one game. I can pick out probably 5 games out of the last 50 where my positioning was shit.

I disagree. Keep in mind, we are not mastering a pve game. These are other people we are playing against. Being matched against someone slightly better than you can result in catastrophic defeat lol. Its easy to make someone look bad in MOBAs, if your team is slightly better than theirs. Although, you do have a point about positioning and farm. Those can be indicators, but I still dont think one game is enough to determine accurately.

now that i think about it, his overall personality was off. He spoke in all - caps and making fun of us and situations we were put into by him in that game. for example, i hooked the enemy support under turret and flash away cause i had low hp and instead of healing me and getting a kill he cose to let me die. then i typed: HEAL ME and he replied: NO!! , i wouldnt care if he just had forgotten but someone like that is a bad player and i have no idea how his mmr was so high .

hi, i just played a ranked game in gold 4 and we had an unranked malph on our team. his farm was 20 when enemys was 100. he was SO BAD and i have no idea how his mmr is high, if it is. my point is that the matchups should be a lot better. just lost elo cause riot paired me up with a guy who was playing his FIRST RANKED GAME. JESUS

Yeah starting players off as like high silver-low gold isn't the best spot to drop em, imo. Ill give ya that for sure.

Pls edit your post to reflect the word tiers in place of division so it doesnt confuse other players and improper usage of the word. Tier is iron, bronze, silver, gold, etc. Within the tier is the divisions. Each tier has 4 seperate rank from 4 to 1, which is call divisions, for example, silver 4, silver 3, silver 2 and silver 1.

Aside from that i agree.

Rank is only an aesthetic meant to give us a sense of how we rank against other players. And that's all it is, an aesthetic. It's imaginary. MMR is the ONLY thing that really matters.
