I got banned for someone saying Kill yourself to me.

I was joking around and in game one they said they were queued so they all reported me for nothing. They told me to kill my self when I was playing the game. Can someone from riot inspect game 1 because the other team repeatedly told me to kill my self? Please take a look at Game two too. I Tried playing and it was a bad game. My twisted fate bought 6 broken stopwatches while i tried my hardest to win. I did say somethings but I don't think that it is bannable. If someone from riot sees this I would like a more clear explanation on why I was banned for half a month. Just remember a lot of people have said somethings worst than this and do not get bans. I think a 2 week ban is not needed. When someone reports you for the fun of it and bots look over it and ban you; I think it should be over looked by a riot employee.

You flamed your teammates. There's no good reason to flame somebody in a game of League. When you come back from your 14-day ban, avoid flaming or get perma'd.

I agree with you about this guy but that doesn't mean there isn't a serious problem with people saying things they shouldn't. Telling someone to kill themselves is NOT acceptable. I have made a post dedicated to this very issue as the increase of players telling other players to kill themselves is absolutely disgusting.

Some preteen somewhere in wherever isn't going to convince me by saying that and it's honestly a joke that Riot and the world gives so much power to words. Even supposed curse words are only bad cause some stuck up person somewhere decided they were bad, even though all words are based on context and more hurtful things can be said without using that language at all.

I agree with you mate. But the majority players complained over and over. Riot has no way to argue but to listen. You can't blame Riot for this decision. We can only blame ourselves or the majority who think like this. :(

Riot doesnt actually review the context of what is said. They have trigger phrases linked that automatically assign bans based on those words regardless of the context. These phrase words include, any reference to killing oneself or another player, gender slurs, racial slurs, mental health slurs. I even got suspended from the boards once for saying that the culture of this game made me want to [reference to death] because I truly thought that way, but instead of reaching out to me to check my mental health Riot bans me from the boards for calling attention to how this game actually makes people feel sometimes. Regardless of the context and regardless of how toxic the person is you are flaming with, these things will get you an insta ban. I speak from experience after going off on a toxic player in game, even though they didnt use the language I used, their actions were more toxic than what I said to them, but that doesn't matter. You just have to keep your mouth shut for fear Riot will punish you for calling out toxicity in an equally toxic way, and being nice to those types of players only makes them more toxic. My advice, keep your head down don't say shit. Take your loss, report them and move on. And other players are so soft that even if you are in the right with wanting to flame, people will more than likely defend the toxic player before they defend you just because the toxic player didn't use bannable language, thus giving no indication of toxicity as in game actions are harder to prove toxic than words, even if that toxicity is aimed at someone being toxic first. And though actions speak louder than words, Riot holds more stake in words than gameplay itself. Most games its not even necessary to even type anything. And letting toxic people goad you into being toxic in return is what get's most people suspended. Then you have all these warriors on the boards that applaud anytime someone gets banned just because of language because Riot creates 0 sympathy for people who are banned, because as I stated, context doesnt matter to them or anyone else here. People on the boards see your words only and so they can only judge you. And because they are not in the heat of a game at the moment, they are able to actually process their thoughts and think of reasons why you are wrong just because you are trying to defend yourself. Defending yourself on the boards will only ever bring haters to your post.

Homophobia (using gay as an insult) as well as hate speech (disparaging someone for a mental illness) are utterly unacceptable and should not need a warning. That type of behavior is extremely inappropriate.

Maybe, but did he actually say it? Interpretation of people's comments by an automated system is a very dangerous precedent to set. Of course you and I can see it, but the once in a million time someone asks a new friend "Are you very artistic?" and they get a ban for it.. doesn't seem right.

Considering the fact that the "are you artistic" thing came up near the end of a match that already had a fair amount of negative and unsportsmanlike behavior, there is absolutely no way, not a snowball's chance in fresh monster hell, that that could be a genuine question.

Beyond that, asking personal questions like that - asking if someone's artistically talented - would fall into the realm of PM Chat post-game, once you've accepted a player as a friend. You want to get friendly with someone in-match? Pal around. But don't bother with personal questions with someone who you're not likely to play with twice.

I'll address this first, since it's glaringly obvious shit got lost in translation.

Ask anyone around these boards, and they'll tell you that you're 100% allowed to talk about whatever you want in chat, as long as it doesn't interfere with gameplay, but they'll also say that the chat pane is primarily meant for gameplay-related chat.

And when I said the following:

I meant that it's not worth bothering someone with personal questions like "are you an artist" or whatever if you're not really going to have them as your friend. If you're not going to play with them for more than one game, there's really no use in getting to know them.

How you could somehow misconstrue this as me advocating for the chat to be strictly gameplay-focused, with absolutely no other chat allowed, I could not possibly fathom. All I can guess is that you're capable of borderline unrealistic leaps of logic, and came to a wrong conclusion about a statement that really more-or-less is just common practice for dealing with randoms/pick-up groups.

But, if you still want to grossly misinterpret what I said, have at it. I can't stop you.

As for this - you seem to assume that once the computer has one instance where the word "artistic" is registered as an intentional misspelling of "autistic", that it'll somehow register every other instance as negative just because it occurred that one time.

That, somehow, the advanced technology that can discern speech patterns and weigh on someone's chat, discerning whether or not they're flaming - that somehow that wouldn't be able to tell the difference between "are you artistic" and "artistic representation".

The point you're trying to make is pretty damned flawed, considering the numerous cases of players being punished for flaming and toxicity, especially those who try to masquerade their toxicity with innocuous emoticons or remarks of familiarity or endearment.

People who say "shut the fuck up hun" or "you belong in bronze :)" get punished just the same as people who say "get the fuck off my lane you feeding asshole" or "wish i'd get a team that wasn't trash".

That the IFS' learning algorithm is able to figure out and punish negative chat so easily, with so many variables on the table - that should be reason enough for you to believe that it can tell the difference between "artistic" as it actually means, and "artistic" as a deliberate mispelling of "autistic".

Holy wall of text batman. TLDR, obviously upset by getting crazy sense of entitlement, which seemingly rivals that of someone like Michael Brown, dominated. Fact still stands that if I say "i got a big dirk," "you buck," or "you seem similar to my artistic friend," that there is no case in which I should be automatically punished by a computer program for any of those specific statements. If they want people to review them, and they were toxic throughout rest of the chat... ban away.

As for the Artistic; I wouldn't be surprised that the system take similar phrases like that as meaning swear words if the account has been found to exhibit a certain degree of negativity in chat. Whereas it is likely to be ignored (but possibly still noted) with more honorable and sportmanlike accounts.

I might have said somethings in game 1 but in game 2 I got reported for trying to win. I might have been mad at the start but I never went through of what I said so I think everybody deserves a second chance. Do you think I should have been reported for game 2?

As is telling any other player to kill themselves. If you tell someone to kill themselves on a social media site, and they do, you are held legally liable for their death. It should be no different on here.

I don't see any zero tolerances phrases present in this chat, however, this chat is very, very long and contains some instances of minor negativity.

As a reminder, longer chats naturally appear to be more toxic, and naturally contain more toxic words and phrases, which causes the chat log to be scored higher by the IFS.
