Why do people use Mental Illness as an Insult when playing League?

So many times I see people get called Autistic, mentally retarded, slow, etc while playing league. Why do people use these as insults? I cant understand how some people can be completely inconsiderate. But more importantly, why do people just let it happen? Am I the only one who thinks these insults are incredibly rude? Am I the only one who considers this a problem? RIOT, do you support these people and allow them to use these insults? Because, I see no efforts to keep these insults from being used. This is cyber bullying. Somebody do something about it, please.

A lot of people act like arseholes on the internet. Near complete anonymity tends to cause such things.

I can see why some people would find it offensive. I personally don't because to me, words like retard, autist, and even the N word have been overused to the point where they've lost their meaning as offensive words and have become commonplace.

Not to mention, I don't get offended over what someone said to me on the internet behind a keyboard because most people that use them over the internet wouldn't dare say it to someone's face lest they end up losing a few teeth.

They don't. That's why people end up with permanent bans because of what they say to others. Read through the player behaviour board. You will see tons of people getting punished for saying things like that.

Honestly whenever I see someone calling someone else "retarded, autistic, braindead" or whatever else there is in the book I chuckle because it has lost it's meaning. It's overused to the point where you don't even think about the people with these issues in real life. Which isn't a good thing, but I cannot lie, I do find them funny. I had a player in my game telling someone how did they break out of the psych ward.

OP, there's also a difference between a disability, mental disorder and mental illness etc as well. What you've mentioned there are not considered as mental illness due to technicalities.

But hey.
