Permanently turning off chat.

Repeatedly getting called a 'r%%%%%' or being told to kill myself by trolls is a lot of fun, really. Especially when reports do dick-all and defending yourself can result in a counter-report. Can we possibly add an option to turn off chat completely? its just a pain to have to mute everyone every game...

For reals man. I am on a 14 day ban because I counter peoples bullshit with my own. SO when I get back chat will be off all the time lol. Dont get me wrong I have had my moments when I was an asshole it happens lol the funny thing is though that I never got banned for that just chat restricted a few games a long time ago but then I have a week or so of just getting assholes in my games and trolls and I retaliate and boom banned lol. When I brought it up to riot they threatened me witha permaban so dont think that they care. I might not even come back to the game and if I do I can assure you they will not receive another dime of mine on their game.

You can also move the chat box off of your screen and it'll stay there. Just drop it all the way to the bottom or something.

Game is the bottom of the barrel in terms of player behavior, i wish you luck in the future.

Most likely a mod will come in here, tell you to mute people and keep your head up......

It's definitely annoying having to have to mute everyone. I think there should not be a chat off, but a MUTE ALL PLAYERS feature and a MUTE ALL PINGS. Because; a player can be nice and helpful and you may miss out on his points. So you don't want to simply just keep mute all.

Well idk what people you have been playing with but i haven't been having any problems like that. Maybe they just don't like you?

If reports truly did nothing then how do you explain the countless threads in PB by players complaining about their [often justified] punishments? Also, "defending yourself" does not mean fighting fire with fire or stooping down to their level. You can respond back in a neutral or positive manner, or you can just mute them and continue on with the game. Either way they're more likely to stop with the verbal abuse if no ones giving them the reaction they're looking for.

As for turning off chat completely, this has been discussed in the past. While it's an interesting idea I don't see Riot implementing it any time soon, partly because having no or limited chat doesn't stop one from resorting to trolling or int. feeding to vent their frustrations. Maybe in the future they'll implement it but as for right now I just don't see them doing so.

I think running into games and muting all from the bat places severe and unnecessary barriers to communication, but histrionics seem to be king around these parts. Don't mute people unless they give you a reason. If you're so easily bothered that you need to mute everyone, then multiplayer gaming might not be the space for you.

I think one of the problems is that I see someone feed intentionally - very obviously so - and then someone else gets upset and lashes their tongue at them. I sympathize with the player who's upset. I used to care whether I won or lost too, so I know where they're coming from. The saddest part is the feeder won't get punished and the person who says a word against anyone gets punished by the SJW bot (quoting Dong Huap). But even that seems inconsistent. I reported someone the other day from dropping N bombs and I didn't get a message from Riot that someone I reported was punished, so I guess it went under the rug. It's a bit of a mess if you care about your rank, I think. I can only say I wish you the best of luck.

Imagine a game with no pings, chat, emotes, and mastery spam. Players would have no control over what other players do. All you could do is "request" aid ping, and "arriving" ping.

What a nice and quiet game. Asking people as a whole to be helpful is like asking donkeys to sing. I don't need people four people to backseat me, like some annoying little brother, while I play League. Poorly, or well.

While Necromancy may be handy (and sometimes needed) in video games, it's not the case for old forum threads. Please avoid using such magic and be mindful of how old threads are before posting.
