Making Ranked Fun.

I was doing my first ranked game of the season! I was so excited to be able to try to get a better rank and a second chance, but instead I'm queued with an AFK. The game was going fine until our support turned salty. Our support made us feel like trash. Was salty towards us, called us names and then AFKed until we lost the game.

Even though it's just the first 10 matches of ranked, 1 loss can decide whether or not you make it to silver+ at the start. I think players like this should not be rewarded. Players like that should not be in ranked and the poor souls stuck with that person should not have to deal with a loss or loss of LP because of an unsportsmanlike player.

Now with the ranting done. I have seen this way too much, in promos I've had to face it, in the placements I've had to face it, even just during the league rank I've faced it. It is not fun and -20 LP, not being promoted or not making it to silver+ all because of them isn't right. So, all you people ar riot, know that you need to fix this. There should be punishment and something to make up to the players who had to deal with that person.

One Loss Does Not Matter. Your rank from last seasons is far more influential than your w/l record. Sorry to disappoint you.

I played Ranked last season and had no issues, it was my first season of ranked and I actually rather enjoyed it. This season, nope. Not even going to bother finishing my ranking. I was Silver 5, and I really don't understand why rank games matter. I still get thrown with people who don't target the adc, who would rather 1 v 5, and 90% of the time they feed.

Now with all that being said, I am still positive towards my team, I understand bad games happen. However I have played 4/4 ranked games and will not even bother my 10 games. Each game had an AFK(Yes all 4!), hate speech, racist comments, and just enough to sway me away from the ranked system and honestly if it goes into normal games, I may not continue to league. Which is sad with how much money I have put into the game. Aka it would have been a waste, but I would rather support games that don't have these constant issues. If I wanted to deal with it I would go to COD.

So long story short, I agree 100%.

In my opinion, Ranked will never be fun in the same way other game modes are because it combines several things designed to bring out the worst in people:

  1. Competition.
  2. Stat rankings.
  3. Internet anonymity.
  4. Mandatory teamwork.
  5. Performance-based rewards.

Add to that the fact League's demographic skews towards the younger generations who haven't quite learned that shouting a nonstop stream of expletives, racist comments, and derogatory slurs is neither cool nor edgy nor effective and you have a recipe for, well, Ranked.
