Monumental Issue That No One Seems to Care About
Ironically enough, it's apathy. Let me give an example of what I mean: I was recently in a game where there was autolocking and miscommunication in the pregame. I ended up going ap ezreal bot with a support zyra. At level 1, she is all of a sudden afk under tower and gives first blood. I type "zyra what happened there?" and get no reply. I ask a teammate to ask her if she had muted me, and ask her what happened. She responds by saying "yeah and if you don't shut up I'm muting you too" and proceeded to say practically nothing else all game. Our ryze begins attacking me for questioning her ("there's nothing wrong with her muting cuz ur salty lol" "ur just garbage" "you don't lose that much waveclear going ap" "your cs sucks" etc). The game goes to 55-ish minutes at which point I am 16/9/14 while he is 8/5/6, and this entire time he has been relentlessly berating me any time I die or even whenever he got a free moment to type while waveclearing. He even made a point to berate me in post-game about my stats and inferior cs. Long story short, he deserved a rep but I can guarentee no one else but me did report him... because no one cares. It doesn't effect them, so at the end of the game people just move on. It's a shame, because I've seen people who deserved honors get none and people who deserved reports get none because no one ever cares once the game has ended unless the instance stands out or effects them directly.
I feel like to fix this riot could make it so that you have to put a rating or honor or something on every player after game. Like it'd have a generic category like "good teammate" that didn't do anything if the person just played and wasn't overly nice or mean. Forcing this engagement, while it seems a little trite, would take an extra like 5 seconds in aftergame to just click some buttons, but in the long run it'd reward good players and punish bad ones WAY more than the current report/honor system. Open to constructive criticism, so pls comment with your thoughts!
