Honors don't feel rewarding

Honestly, every time I get an honor, I don't feel as satisfied as I should be. Most of the time, I just X out the notification and forget I even got honored. They just feel like numbers and not much else and it's kinda sad because it's one of the few ways a player can reward another player for being a good example to the community. If there was some reward or satisfaction that honors give other than just numbers on your profile, it would probably give people a reason not to be as toxic. Because of how little significance they hold, some people just forget to honor those who where truly friendly, helpful, or hardworking. This sometimes includes myself, I meet someone nice, forget to honor them, and just move on with another game.

[Edit] Another thing to point out is how sometimes the enemy team might honor someone for feeding them, or helping break the other team apart for an easy win. Say team 1 is doing well, and someone in team 1 decides to break them all apart and starts being toxic, causing them to lose. Team 2 becomes aware of this and says "Screw it, let's honor that one guy in team 1 that helped us win!" Doesn't happen too often, but it still is a thing that happens that shouldn't.

It's a placebo system that the community quickly figured out was a placebo.

Gave about 2~3 months of reduced toxicity. Can be safely removed now with no repercussions.

Make it so with specific amount of honor you can get an exclusive summoner icon each season, and make it so that if you get a specific amount of honor from people who are not on your friends list, you can trade it in to get IP bonuses or materials for Hextech crafting. There problem solved

When I get honored, I feel good for about 2 seconds. About the amount of time to either close out or get into next queue.

it used to be that when you were honored enough times in one of the categories, youd get the lil banner ribbon thing. when it was introduced and went live, everyone ended up getting the red ribbon with a few blue and green sprinkled in.

If i can remember, the more honors that were given out, the less valuable they became.. thus now you only see maybe one or two a game (at least in my games).

like many of lyte's other efforts it got 10% of the way somewhere and then was left to rot in the desert

I have once read some psychological article about this. It spoke of "inner" and "outer" incentives. Nice people are nice because they feel nice when being nice; thats the inner incentive: youre doing it because you want to do it and like to do it. Then, theres outer rewards: you do something because you get something from somebody. Example would be school grades, there are people who put effort into it because they feel like its right, and there are those who do it because they get 10 $ everytime they get good grades. Imagine this: you have an inner incentive to do your homework, and your parents want to be nice and give you an outer incentive to do it. Now, if this outer incentive is material (unlike love or such), the following can occur: the outer incentive "replaces" the inner one, so that if the outer incentive stops, you have no reason to do the task anymore. So if you rewarded nice people for being nice with e.g. RP, you could actually decrease the number of players who are nice because of inner incentives (who are those you want to have).

Just my 2 cents.

I agree, but I think (THINK) I saw something about them doing something with the honor system soon. (but we all now Rito's definition of soon)

It seems like an unachievable goal to get a banner. I've never earned one, and I rarely see them on the loading screen. A progress bar of some kind would be helpful. At least you know if your making progress vs an unachievable goal.

Honors are meant to be collected for ribbons. Ribbons are earned by getting honored by a certain ratio of players each game.

It's not a time invested reward.

I think every game about every player and what honour they deserve or not and hand it out. Not many others do, but I'm always encouraging my friends to give it out. It would really really help if it was at least somewhat valueable. I've only met about a half dozen players who have those little banners in the last year of playing League... It seems like an unreachable reward given only to the top 0.1 % of players. Throw us some IP or RP for getting it from someone for the first time in the week (some people only play with friends) and double it for honourable opponent and we've got a deal :).

Should be able to spend honors like IP

Banuvan3/14/2016, 8:49:23 PM1 votes

That's because Rito nerfed the hell out of honor a long time ago making it absolutely worthless and you very very rarely see anybody with it anymore. Another Lyte project that failed like almost every other project he has worked on. Why Rito employs him I will never understand. He does nothing. I need to get a job like his where I do nothing all day and get paid for it.
